Role Purpose:

The Child Rights Governance Project Officer will be responsible for the day-to-day coordination, planning, implementation, and reporting of CRG activities under the Radio Aids in Magwi. He/she will be in charge of the implementation and the delivery of child rights governance objectives in line with the approved program result framework, annual plan, and budget. He/she will collaborate with respective line Country Departments such as the Social workers and Civil Society Organizations in the delivery of program and ensuring the sustainability of program efforts.

In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

Key Areas of Accountability :

Programme Management

  • Coordinate and take the lead in the implementation of activities in the child rights governance Radio Aids program.

  • Provide support and guidance to the education team to strengthen their joint planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting systems on child rights governance.

  • Monitor partner project progress by engaging in monitoring visits and producing monthly/quarterly monitoring reports.

  • Identify capacity needs and report to technical managers, education Programme Manager & Area Manager for support.

  • Support program management through consulting with the implementing team on annual plans & budget phasing, monthly forecasts

  • Facilitate joint planning meetings & visits with the Education Coordinator & MEAL team to ensure integration of program activities and efforts.

  • Support monthly updating of the IPTT and Output tracker by MEAL team through liaising with education officers for information.

  • Ensure financial compliance of activities in CRG with approval of the respective technical CRG Education PM and Area Manager.

  • Participate in budget monitoring by reviewing monthly BVAs and providing feedback for reclassifications, recoding and or other amendments.

  • Establish and ensure strong and positive relationships with the respective program-related line Departments and CSOs within the State to ensure smooth delivery and sustainability of program activities.

  • Producing quality monthly narrative reports and providing the technical manager and Education Programme Manager with information for the compilation of biannual and annual CRG program report to Member and/or Donor.

  • Liaise with other Project Officers from education to achieve maximum child-centered social accountability integration

  • Anticipate the supply needs of the projects and submit timely order requests for all project supplies needed so that procurement can be
    initiated and supplies delivered on time.

    Representational role & Advocacy

  • Represent Save the Children at State/ Payam & community level child rights forums/ meetings to ensure maintenance of good flow of information and knowledge on the project.

  • To attend, participate and contribute in relevant state and county forums as assigned by the line manager.

  • Take lead in advocacy issues about child-centred social accountability by engaging with relevant local authority, CSOs, and other influential persons on child rights issues.

    Documentation

  • Document key project proceses, lessons learnt and significant change stories to inform internal and external stakeholders on impact made by the project.

    Child Safeguarding

  • Ensure that staff provide programme beneficiaries with ongoing, age-appropriate verbal or written information in relevant languages about the behaviour they can expect of staff and representatives, in line with the Child Safeguarding Policy and Code of Conduct; and how to raise concerns

  • Ensure children and their communities are aware of conduct to expect of SC staff and how to raise concerns.

  • Any other duties as assigned by the line manager.

    Qualifications

  • Qualification in the field of Social work, or Diploma in social workers, community development, or equivalent.

  • A minimum of 3 years relevant work experience in an environment dealing with child rights & child participation issues and the ability to work with a diverse team.

  • Knowledgeable of integrated programming.

  • Good interpersonal and advocacy skills

  • Excellent report writing and documentation skills

  • Computer literacy

  • Fluency in written and spoken English

    Experience and Skills

    Essential

  • Ability to converse in both English and Arabic

  • Higher knowledge of Save the Children’s way of working

    Desirable

  • Experience of working with children and the community

  • Knowledge and experience of working in the area of Child Protection & Child Rights Governance
