Job Description

Role Purpose: -

Child Protection Coordinator will coordinate and manage over all responsibilities of the project implementation, monitoring and reporting of all project activities in Sasiga Woreda and Haro Limu Woreda of East Wollega zone.

Child Protection coordinator will lead and coordinate project team to ensure proper and timely beneficiary identification, project monitoring, assessments and will provide progress updates on monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
Child Protection coordinator will also involve in budget management.

Child Protection coordinator will implement MEAL and child protection components with close technical supports from MEAL and Child Protection Manager at the country office and Child Protection in Emergency Specialist at hub level respectively.

Child Protection Coordinator will also jointly work with field staff of consortium members, financial service providers and mandated government partners to ensure integration and also support referral system within existing government system and also promoting child protection mainstreaming in the cash transfer programme.

He/she will provide project progress reports as per the donor requirement as well as whenever needed by the hub, country office or the donor, to keep the donor informed on implementation progress.

Child Protection coordinator will closely work with Women, Children and Youth Affairs, Labor and social Affairs, other relevant government offices for cash transfer program and stakeholders at zonal and woreda level to jointly implement, monitor and support coordination.

Child protection coordinator will facilitate arrangement of trainings, workshops, review meeting and assessments in consultation with mandated government partners whereas trainings, workshops and assessments will be facilitated and led by Child protection in Emergency Specialist along with Child Protection PDQ team at country office .

Child Protection coordinator will represent SCI at external forums/meetings at field office level as required in consultation with the line manager to position the achievements of the project that he/she is responsible for.

Key Areas of Accountability:

Programme management

  • Coordinate and implement Child Protection and MEAL components of the cash transfer program
  • Prepare regular progress reports of the project as required to immediate supervisor, field office manager in compliance to rules and guidelines of donor and SCI.
  • Provide feedback and share lessons learned from project implementations
  • Supports project team and government partners to ensure feasible detailed implementation plan is developed and implemented.
  • Serve as the sub-budget holder for the Child protection and MEAL component of the project at field office level
  • Ensures that appropriate technical back up is given to projects towards smooth implementation of project.
  • Ensures the quality, relevance and integrated nature of programs in the project.

    Monitoring, evaluation and quality assurance

  • Monitor and systematically document project results

  • Assist and facilitate regularly scheduled reviews of projects with project team, government partners and stakeholders

    Stakeholders and partners management

  • Foster collaborative environment and team spirit among government and non-government stakeholders

  • Liaises with and creates conducive working relationship between SCI and stakeholders in targeted Woredas.

  • Closely work with government agencies, consortium member field staff and other stakeholders in the course of project planning and implementation, and to develop their capacity for quality project implementation as well as reporting (based on needs /gap assessment)

  • Conduct regular monitoring visits of the project, government, and partners at the project sites and prepare reports for documentation and follow-up actions

  • Closely work with stakeholders in the preparation of periodic and project completion reports

    Other

  • Represent the SCI in the sub-national child protection forums/meetings on areas related to the project, as required.
  • In cooperation with Immediate Supervisor and MEAL and Child Protection Manager, ensure proper documentation
    of experiences and lessons learned from projects under supervision.

  • In cooperation with communications team, provide information and inputs to beused for SCI Child Protection information and communication materials.

  • Provides inputs to the as requested through conducting quick needs assessments and general information related to CP in the area to inform new program development.

  • Performs other related activities as assigned by immediate supervisor.

    Job Requirements

  • A minimum of Bachelor Degree in an area of social science, law or equivalent
  • Recommended a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a corporate or NGO environment, with experience in community based child protection project coordination experience
  • Experience, Knowledge and understanding of community based child protection mechanisms, national protection systems, working Internal
  • Displaced Persons (IDP) related projects, management and technical knowledge on child protection monitoring and evaluation
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching
  • Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures
  • Strong results orientation, with the ability to challenge existing mind-sets
  • Experience of successfully implementing changes to improve and monitor quality standards and impact achieved
  • Ability to present complex information in a succinct and compelling manner
  • Ability and willingness to dramatically change work practices and hours, and work with incoming surge teams, in the event of emergencies
  • Fluency in English, both verbal and written, required and Fluency in Afan Oromo is Advantageous.
