Role Purpose:

  • Adolescent Development(AD) Officer will assist the coordination and implementation of project activities including, monitoring and evaluations, assisting in planning trainings, workshops and meeting at Kebele, woreda and zonal levels, organizing out-of-school adolescents for local development endeavours, facilitating adolescent livelihood initiatives, assisting adolescent need assessments, facilitating life trainings for adolescents.
  • S/he is responsible for facilitating community mobilization activities, assist in designing, planning, and implementation of health programs need to be under taken in adolescent development program packages, collaboration with district officials, teachers and health extension workers.

    Reports to: Health, Nutrition and Adolescent Program Coordinator

    Key Areas of Accountability:
  • Assist in Preparing annul plan of action and budget of Adolescent program;

  • Participates in adolescent development baseline survey, market analysis, end line and situational analysis

  • Assist and Facilitates life skill trainings for out of school adolescents/youths on personal development, health and economic opportunities.

  • Follows up and ensures proper program implementation;

  • Assists school facilitators, youths, in implementation of day to day activities;

  • Conducts adolescent/community need assessment on livelihood options, health challenges and adolescent health service issues;

  • Mobilizes community for active participation in Adolescent program;

  • Facilitate basic and refresher trainings for adolescents on basic business skills, entrepreneurship and financial literacy;

  • Liaison with district micro-credit institutions to facilitate access to financial service for adolescents;

  • Work with district technical and vocational education and training (TVET) institutions to facilitate vocational skills training for adolescents;

  • Support adolescents in preparation of business plan and financial management;

  • Facilitates financial request for youth unemployment activity and prepares loan request and promissory note;

  • Assist in facilitation of logistics needed for the program;

  • Assist in organizing and facilitates review and reflection meetings for community based reproductive health agents, community based malaria workers;

  • Facilitate and ensures IEC/BCC material distribution to out of school youth clubs,

  • Assist in Preparing periodic reports

  • Performs other related tasks as required under the order of program coordinator.

    Job Requirements

    Qualifications and Experience

    Essential

  • Diploma or first Degree in Business Management, Economics, Adult Education or related fields
  • Minimum of four years for Diploma or two years for Degree holder
  • Experienced in working with school /community youths on Adolescent livelihood, life skill development, health or related areas

    Desirable

  • Demonstrated ability to set and achieve objectives
  • Strong community mobilization and customer relations skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and writing skills)
  • Flexible and adaptable to dynamic changes and fast-paced work environment
