Job Description

  • Liaise with Hydraulic/Flood Modeling Specialist from KFH Department on the development of hydraulic modeling to calculate the design peak discharge for each drainage structure in different design return periods for flood control management;

  • Develop and reviewing sub catchments areas for drainage structure of existing and new road designs (including culverts, canals and bridges) located along road alignments;

  • Work together with other Engineers under FM&WSD Division on the coordination of drainage design activities prepared by design concerned agencies, consultants on roads and bridge construction projects;

  • Review and analyze designs to include storm water management plan requirements;

  • Responsible to record and evaluate this data prior to use for drainage design purposes;

  • Responsible to establish the ideal rainfall, intensity, duration and frequency data and ensure it corresponds to the data being applied to the design of drainage structure including culverts, canals, ponds, bridges, and water related storage;

  • Responsible to calculate the ideal time of concentration of runoff from remote areas down to the point of interest on the roads, drainage, culverts or any water related channels;

  • Work together with River flood control technical teams to conduct interviews with local residents in the area regarding flood history of the waterway to include flood height, duration, and frequency;

  • Work together with Modelers under Knowledge and Forecasting Hub Department to perform hydrology and hydraulic design calculations for water flows, drainage systems, culverts, bridge openings, storm water management for roads, sediment modeling, and reservoir development;

  • Apply scientific information on drainages infrastructures in the cities
    for maintenance, flood mitigation and urban drainage development;

  • Develop field use cutting edge software and hardware to test and implement the flood infrastructures;

  • Review the city’s existing, proposed or planned drainage designs flow and recommendation for improvement;

  • Collect baseline information and data on flood damages and assess the flood risks exposed, including climate change impacts by collaborate with the Flood Control technical Team and Modelers from KFH Department;

  • Together with the hydrological modeling/Flood modeling specialists from KFH Department, conduct model simulation for flood hazards maps, infrastructures breaches and reservoir optimization;

  • Work together with FM&WSD Team on the preparation of the tender documents for Flood control and Water Storage construction and by reviewing technical submissions; Development of Urban Storm/runoff Drainage Criteria Manual for sub - catchments;

    Minimum Qualification

  • Master of Science in Urban Hydrology or Hydrology with one (1) year of relevant working experience; or

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Hydrology or Hydrology with five (5) years of relevant working experience.
