Job Description

  • Installation and maintenance of hydrological (surface water, groundwater and water quality) stations and equipment;

  • Design of the water monitoring infrastructure and supervision of implementation activities;

  • Contribution to the selection of water monitoring stations sites;

  • Ensuring inventory, coding and maintenance of water monitoring equipment;

  • Advising RWB on appropriate equipment to acquire in order to complement and improve existing water monitoring efforts.

  • Regular updates on hydrological stations status and operations;

  • Development and implementation of plans and roadmap for hydrological stations maintenance; Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual hydrological stations status reports; Provision of technical support to the water monitoring effort within RWB;

  • Elaboration and implementation of guidelines for safety and security of hydrological stations; Contribution to the preparation and implementation of education and public awareness programs related to hydrological stations;

  • Inventory of water monitoring stations held by other institutions, NGOs, private operators, etc.

  • Perform any other duties assigned by supervisors.

    Job Profile

    Minimum Qualification

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Civil Engineering or Water Engineering.

    Required Competencies & Key Technical Skills

  • Knowledge in hydrometric networks and managing monitoring posts, ground water equipment, and surface water equipment;

  • Knowledge of hydrometric data transmission systems (HDTS) design, installation and monitoring;

  • Knowledge in river networks;

  • Knowledge in hydraulic infrastructures installation;

  • Knowledge in GIS;

  • Resource management skills;

  • Analytical skills;

  • Problem solving skills;

  • Decision making skills;

  • Time management skills;

  • Risk management skills;

  • Results oriented;

  • Digital literacy skills;

  • Fluency in Kinyarwanda, English and/or French. Knowledge of all is an added advantage.
