Job description

Network and Systems Administration Specialist, carries the following roles and responsibilities:

  • Guide the process of installing IT infrastructure Network and overseeing the management of its functional Systems within the Ministry.

  • Provide guidelines and Training users of the IT Network and Systems to ensure adequate access and effective use of IT functional systems within the Ministry of Interior.

  • Provide technical support services for Infrastructure such as desktops and mobile clients, servers, operating systems, storage.

  • Perform routine network startup and shutdown procedures, and maintaining control records.

  • Maintain and administer computer networks and related computing environments, including computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations.

  • Plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures in order to protect data, software, and hardware.

  • Design, configure, and test computer hardware, networking software and operating system software.

  • Recommend changes to improve systems and network configurations, and determining hardware or software requirements related to such changes.

  • Manage capacity, storage planning, and database performance.

  • Establish proper governance in the administration of systems by defining policies, standards, processes and best practice guidelines.

  • Monitor system performance to ensure everything runs smoothly and securely.

  • Prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly reports to the Chief Digitalization Officer.

  • Any other work related responsibility as assigned by the supervisor.

    Minimum Qualifications

  • Advanced diploma in Computer Science

  • Advanced diploma in Computer Engineering

  • Advanced diploma in Information and Communication Technology

  • Advanced diploma in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information and Communication Technology

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electronics and Telecommunication
    Engineering

  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science

  • Master’s Degree in Computer Engineering

  • Fluency in Kinyarwanda, English and/or French. Knowledge of all is an added advantage

  • Analytical skills;

  • Having experience in Computer Networks Administration. Having Certifications in A++, N++, MCITP, MCSA, MCSE, CCNA, CNNP, CCIE is an added advantage

  • Proficiency in Internet technologies and infrastructure (TCP/IP), WAN, LAN, MPLS, fixed and mobile telecommunications networks, data center infrastructure, cloud computing & virtualization, IPV6, VPN, Network Security
