Job Description

The Network Specialist is responsible to maintain reliable, secure and efficient data communications networks in the Sector (Ministry, Lead Institution, Affiliated institutions), specifically:

Establish network specifications, designs, implement, configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS).

Perform network maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting. Conduct network upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations.

Monitor network performance and ensure system availability and reliability,

Monitor network resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning.

To be able to understand software defined Architecture with hyper converged Infrastructure

Design and set standards for different government institution on Network (WAN/LAN).

Provide Level 2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues.

Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure.

Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company’s security team. Document and keep records

Prepare and conduct end-user trainings on utilizing the network safely

Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for network enhancements and problem resolution

Advanced diploma in Computer Science

Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices, including wireless access points, firewalls, routers, switches, controllers

Knowledge of general-purpose scripting languages such as Python, Ruby, and Perl, which are the most popular for enterprise-grade networks

Knowledge of the principles, methods of IT project planning, monitoring, and evaluation

Fluency in Kinyarwanda, English and/or French. Knowledge of all is an added advantage

Knowledge and understanding of the Rwanda IT Sector

Familiar with different types of networks and architectures (including WAN, LAN, WLAN, DNS, Firewalls, Network Security, MPLS, VoIP) and how they can be integrated into an existing system

Analytical skills;

Having experience in Computer Networks Administration. Having Certifications in A++, N++, MCITP, MCSA, MCSE, CCNA, CNNP, CCIE is an added advantage

Understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware
