  • The position holder will assist in the running of Rukinga Ranching Company by managing the conservancy administration and overseeing administration operations that integrate wildlife conservation, environmental conservation, and tourism, and support all departments where necessary.

    Duties and responsibilities

  • Overseeing conservancy administration activities such as legal requirements, tourism enterprise, and community development programs.

  • Managing community relations, to ensure long-term self-sustainability, strong conservation and benefits to communities.

  • Maintaining and implementing general office filing systems and overseeing clear record keeping.

  • Liaising with County representatives, and oversee timely payment of land rates and rent

  • Enhancing conservancy visibility through marketing and media opportunities.

  • Liaison with the conservancy partners to ensure cohesion within the landscape.

  • Preparing project proposals and reports to donor individuals and organizations for potential funding opportunities.

  • Ensure timely technical and financial reporting to the company Management, Board of Directors, shareholders as required and according to agreed standards

  • Familiarisation of the company’s involvement in a REDD+ project, and relaying the same information to visitors, accurately and concisely when required.

  • Coordination of meetings and communication with project stakeholders.

  • Drafting letters and other communication to external parties when required.

  • Other administrative duties as directed by the Chairman and management.

    Minimum Qualifications, Skills and Competencies for appointment into the position:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business/Environment Conservation/Community Development or Tourism related.

  • A minimum of five (5) years’ relevant experience.

  • Computer literacy especially in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Email.

  • Good written and communication skills (English and Kiswahili)

  • High integrity

  • Good interpersonal relationship skills

  • Ability to think creatively and solve problems effectively

  • Confidentiality

  • Strong leadership skills

  • Previous experience in managing the conservancy administration and overseeing administration operations that integrate wildlife conservation, environmental conservation, and tourism will be an added advantage.

  • Experience working in remote areas, in cross-cultural situations, with diverse economic and professional backgrounds.

  • A strong drive for results with demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.

  • To work
    with a diversity of stakeholders and communities; and to effectively coordinate office operations.

  • In-depth knowledge and demonstrated commitment to wildlife conservation and natural resource management.

  • Knowledge of and experience with monitoring and evaluation of programmes / projects will be an added advantage.

  • Knowledge of the institutional and legal framework of the environment and conservation in Kenya will be an added advantage.
