Rose Avenue Consultants Risk Manager Jobs in Nairobi

The job role will be charged with identifying and analyzing various risks, and developing comprehensive policies, procedures, risk management controls and contingency plans and communicating recommendations to the board and management.

The role shall provide research and analytical support as well as compliance training and internal investigations into the efficacy of the company’s risk management framework.

Risk Manager Job Responsibilities

Risk Roles

Design and implement overall risk management policies and strategies for risk management which comply with legal and regulatory provisions within which the company operates, best practices and specific to company’s unique operations.

Define and monitor the risk appetite and risk tolerance levels of the company

Performing risk assessments: Analysing current risks and identifying potential risks that are affecting the company

Performing risk evaluations: Evaluating the company’s previous handling of risks, and comparing potential risks with criteria set out by the company in its custody and settlement operations

Promoting a risk awareness culture in the organisation

Assisting the departments and business units in developing internal risk policies and structures

Review and create business continuity plans to limit risks

Present risk management reports to management and the Risk Committee of the Board

Leadership

Ensure efficient and effective management of staff and resources in the department and the organization as necessary

Supervise and offer leadership to the Risk Officer(s)

Carry out performance appraisal and general performance management of the

Risk Officer(s)

Policy development

Facilitate the review and advise Board and management on internal controls, policies and procedures

Review the risk management framework and draft necessary updates/amendments

Qualifications for the Risk Manager Job

Business related Bachelor’s Degree from a recognised university;

Professional qualification/certification in risk management is mandatory e.g., ACII or CPA K (audit) or ACCA, CIIRM

A Master’s Degree would be an added advantage.

7 or more years of risk experience including leadership or management in the financial services industry;

Advanced knowledge of internal controls and risk assessment methodologies;

In depth knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements and risk management principles;

Knowledge of products including equities and debt capital markets;

Knowledge of Broker/Dealer operations and the regulatory environment within;

Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
