Right To Play Finance Officer Jobs in Uganda; The Finance Officer ensures accurate, timely, and compliant financial accounting and reporting for assigned projects and Country/Sub-Office operations. The role supports budgeting processes, maintains strong financial documentation, and monitors expenditures to ensure compliance with Right To Play policies, donor requirements, and local regulations.

Responsibilities

Financial Accounting & Reporting – 45%

  • Execute project and office accounting tasks, including month-end close, reconciliations, coding verification, and financial reports.

  • Maintain filing systems, review expenditures, assist with audit preparation, and support partner expenditure reviews.

  • Prepare monthly budget pipelines.

    Cash & Treasury Management – 20%
  • Prepare cash reconciliations and monitor petty cash balances.

  • Follow up on staff and partner advances.

  • Ensure timely processing of banking transactions.

    Financial Guidelines & Internal Controls – 20%

  • Apply RTP and donor financial policies.

  • Ensure procurement documentation completeness.

  • Monitor compliance with tax and statutory regulations.

  • Maintain updated asset and inventory records.

    Program Financial Support – 15%

  • Work with program staff on budgeting, monitoring, and donor financial reports.

  • Ensure field-level understanding of compliance requirements.

    Scope & Impact

  • Operates with moderate autonomy under supervision of SFO/FM.

  • Impacts financial reporting quality, donor compliance, and budget monitoring.

  • Ensures ethical behavior, asset safeguarding, and confidentiality.

    Leadership & Staff Management

  • May supervise Finance staff.

  • Provides guidance on accounting processes and supports capacity building.

    Decision-Making

  • Uses reconciliations, payroll records, partner reports, and procurement documentation to
    produce accurate financial information.

  • Supports project budget preparation for proposals and donor reports.

    Innovation

  • Identifies opportunities to streamline accounting tasks and improve documentation.

  • Suggests process improvements aligned with country and HQ finance procedures.

    Relationships

  • Works closely with Finance Manager/SFO, country office staff, partners, and vendors.

    Expertise

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.

  • 4 years’ experience in accounting, grants, and budgeting.

  • Strong proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint.

  • Familiarity with accounting software (Microsoft 365 preferred).

  • Fluency in English and relevant local languages; French required in francophone contexts.
