Job Description

Retrak is a growing faith-based NGO that works with vulnerable children to provide real alternatives to life on the street and exploitative domestic work. We also provide community-based programmes to prevent migration and exploitation.

The Country Child Protection Officer will be responsible for:

Leading on child protection, safeguarding and life-skills work across all programmes and projects sites in Addis Ababa, SNNPR and Amhara region (including community work) to ensure all beneficiaries are safeguarded.

Delivery and oversight of training and capacity building around the above areas, to equip staff and ensure safe programme delivery and best practice in safeguarding.

Managing all Child Protection Reporting requirements for Retrak and donors

The position will require regular travel to project sites in SNNPR, Amhara and in Addis Ababa

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Experience:

Masters in Clinical Psychology or Social work

At least 5 years working with vulnerable children

At least 3 years’ experience in a senior role managing safe-guarding or child protection

Essential skills:

Strong communication and people management skills

Excellent standard of written and verbal English

Excellent standard of report writing skills in English

Demonstrated abilities in training staff, children and communities

Ability to work within the Christian ethos of Retrak and promote this when required.
