    Our client, a leading hospitality group operating numerous hotels and resorts in Kenya, and a staff complement of over 1400 employees wishes to recruit a competent, dynamic, creative
    and experienced individual in the hospitality industry to competitively fill the above position.

    Our client is seeking to identify a strategic leader who will play a pivotal role at the group’s sales and marketing function.

    He/She is expected to be an exceptional, customer oriented and practical leader with excellent knowledge of the hospitality industry in Kenya, have a demonstrable level of success and possess excellent interpersonal skills.

    Job Purpose

    This position holds the ultimate responsibility for the company’s marketing activities and oversees the development and delivery of a fully integrated marketing strategy for the business as well as directing all sales activities within the company and ensuring the company’s sales grow year on year.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Maximize a hotel's revenues by developing programs to increase occupancy and make profitable use of its accommodation, meeting and leisure facilities;
  • Maintain awareness of the factors that influence the hotel industry and gain a deep
    understanding of the needs and attitudes of a hotel’s customers;
  • Oversee the marketing and promotional activities to meet customer needs, working closely
    with other hotel staff to ensure customers are satisfied with the facilities and their time there;
  • Responsible for creating and implementing a comprehensive marketing and communications
    program that will enhance the company’s image and position within the market place and
    the general public;
  • Achieve and exceed the group room sales revenue targets as agreed with the MD;
  • Establish a clear strategy for international sales;
  • Exceed fair market share targets;
  • Lead the Sales team to establish a sales strategy, plan and targets for the achievement of the same;
  • Monitor and review achievements and take necessary action in accordance with market
    movements;
  • Ensure interface with marketing and operations; providing customer feedback for product development;
  • Develop new markets and balance the segment mix
    to minimize the risks related to
    concentration;
  • Position each hotel in the upper middle segment of the market;
  • Ensure effective promotions and sales led Public relations;
  • Have the best central reservations office and client services function in the industry;
  • Build guest loyalty through rewards and recognition programs;
  • Develop the sales systems and team with appropriate technology and skills;

    Minimum Requirements

    Basic Education

  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in Sales and Marketing;
  • Master's Degree in Marketing, Business Management, Sales/Commercial Management,
    Strategy or a related field is an added advantage;
  • Relevant Marketing Certification(s);

    Experience
  • Minimum 8 years work experience in sales & marketing in the hospitality industry with at least 3 years in a senior management position role.
  • Preferably working in an international hotel brand rather than a stand-alone independent hotel.

    Technical Competencies
  • Demonstrated experience in strategy development, people management, sales
    management, revenue management, distribution channel management, brand development, product development, digital & social media marketing, loyalty management;
  • Demonstrated practical knowledgeable on Client Reservation System (CRS) & Guest
    Management Solutions (GMS) solutions;
  • Strong understanding of food & beverage marketing;
  • Strong & demonstrated strategic thinking skills that would support the growth and profitability of the company;
  • Demonstrates familiarity with budget software and financial management;
  • Demonstrates strong persuasive and negotiation skills;
