Assistant Accountant Payables – Commissions (Contractual)

The Assistant Accountant’s overall purpose is to ensure accurate and timely processing and payment of all intermediary (broker & agency) commissions and timely intermediary dispute resolution.

The jobholder is expected to demonstrate commitment and loyalty and perform all duties in accordance with the organization’s office routines and procedures, keeping in mind the overall business objectives.

Key Responsibility Areas:

  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of all intermediary remuneration (Broker and Agency Commissions, Incentives, Bonuses etc.)
  • Ensure all related tax obligations(WHT) and statutory deductions are accurately accounted for, reported and respective payments remitted to the regulators and returns filed accordingly.
  • Process intermediary and commission advances and ensure prompt recovery.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reconciliation of all commissions related accounting entries, override statements, taxes and deductions accounts.
  • Provide guidance and training to sales teams on commissions plan structures, reports, policy, and other relevant processes.
  • Partner with the Sales team to accurately record and document all additions, modifications, and reductions in active sales teams and their individual compensation plans.
  • Reviews commission payment reports for
    accuracy and completeness. Able to verify and follow through, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of commission payments as outlined.
  • Contribute to the development or improvement of systems to effectively track or capture data.
  • May perform cost analysis or modeling of alternative commission/incentive plan design or quota levels.
  • Resolve commission related issues in a timely and customer centric fashion.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and filing of records for the Payables section.
  • Ensure risk management and internal controls within the role assigned.

    Qualifications and Experience:
  • Essential
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or any other equivalent qualification.
  • CPA II certification.
  • At least 2 years’ relevant work experience.
  • Experience in the use of Accounting software.
  • High proficiency in the use of MS Office especially Excel.
  • Ability to work responsibly with minimal supervision.
