Job Requirements

Overview of Role

The Production Operator and Technician are responsible for operating all the machinery in the line on the day-to-day operations of the factory on a full-time basis.

This position reports directly to the Production Supervisor, which will work with the Plant Manager to implement the factory’s standard operating procedures and food safety standards. The position is flexible in working night shifts and overtime shifts.

Responsibility

Accountable to the Production Supervisor of the company, the Production Operator and Technician’s responsibilities are:

Properly operate the machine and equipment in the line

Manage the operation and maintenance with fellow colleagues

Follow safety procedures and company policies for equipment operation.

Recommend process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and safety.

Identify and report unsafe operations to Supervisor immediately

Maintain the work area clean, safe and organized.

Set and Control all operation parameters such as temperature, pressure, feed rate, etc.

Making sure the production line has a regular supply of raw materials (sesame).

Wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as required by the food safety standards.

Proper utilization of safety equipment and uniforms.

Practice the food safety policy of the company (FSSC) by performing good manufacturing practice (GMP) and good hygienic practice (GHP) in the company

Quality assurance /food safety management of products and processes in compliance with ISO 22000:2005, IS0 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2015 and OHSAS 18001:2007, HACCP & BRC/IFS certifications and best practices

Performs and/or supervises the operation, maintenance, repair, and installation.

Monitors and inspects equipment and systems performance; perform tune-up preventative maintenance and repair

Diagnoses malfunctions in equipment and/or systems and ensures timely and efficient repair

Ensures the logging, recording, and reporting of data in accordance with operating procedures, operating licenses, provincial legislation and regulations

Maintains assigned tools, equipment, personal protection equipment, and reports repairs and/or deficiencies

Do training employees in areas such as operations, maintenance, repairs, construction, safety and operation of tools and equipment

Preparation of Safety Work Procedures

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, food engineering or equivalent manufacturing managerial experience, or, Diploma in General Mechanics, Electricity with matching years of experience

7+ years of increasing management responsibilities as an operator, preferably within a food manufacturing environment

Knowledge and certification of food safety procedures and standards such as ISO, HAACP (as stated above) and/or others

Experience working in similar factories would be favored

Excellent English communication skills; both verbal and written

Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills

Excellent computer skills and proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and internet communication

Team concept management style (employee empowerment and engagement)

Excellent time management and organizational skills

Ability to measure and monitor production processes to create efficiency- reduce cost, waste, and downtime; eliminate material consumption variances

Develop, coach, train, and mentor personnel across all levels

Ability to analyze and formulate process flows, identify root cause process breakdowns, and implement process changes, improvements, and corrective actions

Develop goals and objectives; monitor and measure with key performance indicators

Strong leadership skills- providing clear expectations and responsibilities
