Overview
Provide strategic academic and administrative leadership for the Upper Primary and Junior School sections.
Ensure effective curriculum implementation, quality teaching and learning, staff supervision, learner discipline and improved academic performance in line with the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) and the school’s educational objectives.
Job Description
Provide leadership and oversight for academic and administrative activities in the Upper Primary and Junior School sections.
Ensure effective implementation of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) and compliance with curriculum guidelines.
Supervise curriculum planning, lesson delivery, assessment processes and academic reporting.
Monitor learner performance and implement strategies to improve academic outcomes.
Guide, mentor and supervise teachers to promote professional growth and effective teaching practices.
Conduct classroom observations, lesson evaluations and performance reviews.
Coordinate timetabling, departmental meetings, examinations, assessments and academic reporting processes.
Promote learner discipline, welfare, safeguarding and a positive school culture.
Collaborate with the Headteacher, school management, teachers, parents and other stakeholders to support learner achievement.
Ensure proper maintenance of academic records and timely submission of reports.
Identify staff development needs and coordinate training and professional development initiatives.
Support the integration of digital learning, innovative teaching practices and learner-centred approaches.
Participate in school planning, policy implementation, co-curricular activities and other assigned responsibilities.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Education with a combination of Mathematics and Science subjects from a recognized institution.
Must be registered with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
Minimum three (3) years of experience in a supervisory role.
Demonstrated teaching experience, preferably in
Upper Primary and/or Junior School.
Proven leadership and management experience in a school environment will be a strong advantage.
Sound knowledge of CBC implementation, curriculum management and competency-based assessment.
Strong skills in staff supervision, teacher mentorship, performance management and academic planning.
Ability to analyze learner performance data and implement improvement strategies.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in digital literacy and educational technology integration.
Strong organizational skills, integrity, accountability and the ability to lead teams effectively.
Must possess a valid Certificate of Good Conduct.
