Our client, a Financial Services provider is recruiting for a skilled Head of Finance to join their team; Duties and responsibilities include but are not subject to; Forecasting and budgetingEstablish a functional Balanced Scorecard focused on the implementation, measuring and management of the functional strategy.
Preparation of Annual budget in coordination with other department heads’ budgets and forecasting and in consultation with the company group CFO.
Conduct analysis of performance against budgets and reporting on variances against budgets and against forecasts; period performance against prior period performance and budgets.
Conducting risk management assessment.
Identifying and present opportunities for cost reduction and implement accordingly
Monitor and report on revenue and expenditures in line with approved budgets and business performance and manage daily cash flows
Ensure accuracy of journals and related posting into the financial system
Conduct profit and cost analysis
Ensure timely remittance of related statutory deductions such as but not limited to PAYE, NAPSA, etc.
Ensure preparation and submission of accurate regulatory and statutory returns timeously
Constantly evaluating internal controls to minimise risks and highlight vulnerable control areas
Coordinate audits and tax consultants to ensure smooth closure of audit issues raised
Oversee the preparation of annual Financial Statements to ensure compliance with IFRS standards.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, bi-annual and annual performance reports, or as otherwise required.
Prepare and submit monthly management accounts and ensure timeliness, completeness, accuracy and integrity of the reports.
Prepare and submit ad hoc written and oral reports on financial issues that impact the company
Ensure compliance with Zambian law and regulations as well as company’s policies
Develop secure procedures to maintain confidential information
Monitoring the financial health of the organization by tracking key performance indicators such as cash flow, collections, and receivables
Communication & guidance
Ensuring effective communication of financial information to the executive team, board of directors and other stakeholders
Providing financial guidance to CEO
Ability to convey complex financial information in an understandable manner
Establishing finance operational strategies by evaluating trends
Establishing critical measurements
Determining production, productivity, quality, and customer-service strategies
Rresolving problems; and implementing change
to strategically enhance financial performance and business opportunities
Implementation of sound financial controls
Manage the implementation of sound financial policies procedures, and controls aligned to the company's Group policy
Implement risk management and compliance policies in area of responsibility to identify and manage risk exposure liability
Implement and manage financial risk methodologies, techniques and systems and use to monitor and report on financial activities
Liaise with Group Head of Finance, comapny's re procurement
Strong analytical ability
Demonstratable leadership ability and working well in a team environment
The ability to use initiative, including judgement and problem solving skills
Demonstrable experience of working in a management accounting or financial management role
Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting models
Excellent attention to detail and numeracy proficiency
The ability to work to deadlines, prioritise and adapt a flexible approach to meet the needs of
Possessing excellent verbal and written communication skills
Self-reliant and ability to work independently
Advanced Microsoft Office skills
Ability to work under pressure and plan adequately
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Economics or any related field;
Relevant professional qualifications such as ACCA, CIMA ACA, ZICA (CA), or equivalent;
Masters of Arts Degree in accounting or finance will be an added advantage;
8 years post qualification experience, of which 3 should be in a senior role in the Insurance sector.
In depth understand of International Financial Report Standards.
Fully paid up ZICA membership
An in-depth grasp of Taxation regulations and Insurance regulatory requirements in Zambia.
This position is subject to approval from the Pension and Insurance Authority (“PIA”)
