Our client is a prominent fertilizer and seed company in Zambia who has a strong commitment to sustainability and safety. They are seeking a seasoned Environmental Health and Safety Representativer to oversee and implement health and safety practices within their organization.

The EHS Representative will play a vital role in supporting the Environmental Health and Safety Officer in implementing health and safety programs, conducting inspections, and promoting a safe work environment. Reporting directly to the EHS Officer, this position requires a proactive individual with relevant experience in health and safety practices.

Responsibilities:

Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining health and safety policies and procedures in line with regulatory standards and company guidelines

Conduct routine inspections, risk assessments, and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety protocols

Support in the investigation of incidents, accidents, and near misses, contributing to the identification of root causes and implementation of corrective/preventive measures

Assist in the coordination and delivery of health and safety training programs for employees to promote awareness and compliance

Collaborate with various departments to ensure safety protocols are communicated effectively and adhered to in daily operations

Maintain accurate records and documentation related to health and safety activities, inspections, and training sessions

Support the EHS Officer in analyzing safety data and trends, contributing

to the development of improvement strategies

Participate in emergency response drills and assist in emergency planning efforts

Stay updated on industry regulations and best practices in health and safety to contribute innovative ideas for continuous improvement

Key Skills:

Sound knowledge of health and safety regulations, standards, and compliance requirements

Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills

Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment

Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and familiarity with health and safety management software/tools

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field. Relevant certifications or coursework in EHS are advantageous

Minimum of 2 years of experience in a health and safety role, preferably in a manufacturing, agricultural, or related setting
