Job Description RCL FOODS is seeking a SHERQ Executive to join our Sugar Business Unit within our Foods Division. The role will be based in Malelane and report to the Managing Director (Sugar).
RCL Foods entrusts the SHERQ Executive to manage and monitor existing standards, processes, communication, and systems for ensuring appropriate quality management controls, as well as Health and Safety within Sugar.
Responsibilities include directing the continuous review and improvement of quality, health and safety policies, programmes, and procedures, monitoring an integrated safety and health risk control programme, liaising with relevant authorities, and assisting in respect of audits and remedial actions. The incumbent will also advise and oversee security services, both internal as well as external service providers.
Minimum Requirements
National Diploma in Safety Management (required)
Higher Diploma and/or post-graduate Degree (advantageous)
Relevant qualification in Quality Management (essential)
A minimum of 5 years’ safety and health management experience is essential, 3 of which should have been at Managerial level
At least 5 years' practical experience in Quality Management Systems and knowledge of ISO Quality Management Systems are essential
Computer literacy in MS Office is essential.
Sound knowledge of health and safety practices as well as statutory requirements
Experience in a sugar production environment will be beneficial
Duties & Responsibilities
Assessment of health and safety risk and implementation of preventative measures
Directing activities to ensure that the workplace satisfies occupational hygiene requirements
Oversee and manage the implementation of environmental initiatives in the operations
Co-ordinate and participate in inspections, surveys, and audits to monitor compliance
Budget management and putting cost control measures in place
General SHERQ administration and reporting as well as management of staff
Development of policies and strategies in quality, food, and feed safety in consultation with internal stakeholders and be responsible for continuous improvement projects
Coordinate all quality, food, and feed safety activities (including analytical testing) for all food/ feed factories to ensure consistency in implementation
Support internal stakeholders in the development of action plans to ensure the implementation, maintenance and certification of the approved quality, food & feed safety programs
Monitoring the implementation and maintenance of defined action plans as well as compliance with prescribed standards
Regular engagement with external and internal stakeholders in respect of quality, food, and feed safety; and consistently creating awareness
Setting strategic quality targets and objectives for the company and evaluating and reporting on quality management compliance and performance
Developing, managing, and monitoring the ISO and HACCP programs
Introducing and maintaining quality continuous improvement programs
Acting as management representative regarding quality management and related issues, assisting with and providing advice on quality management issues through training, awareness, and communication, etc.
Following up on quality issues - customer and supplier quality management.
Advise and oversee security service delivery.
