General Position Summary

  • To support the implementation of Gender based violence prevention and child protection activities within the respective district as guided by PEPFAR.

  • The Project Social Worker will work with the District OVC-DREAMS officer, district data officer and other community structures to ensure quality delivery of DREAMS and OVC services in the respective districts.

  • He/She will lead the implementation of GBV response program activities and processes that will facilitate linkage between and within communities and health facilities.

    Jobs Responsibilities

  • Ensure all case management processes are implemented within the set program Standard Operating Procedures, PEPFAR and MGLSD OVC guidance for effective, quality, and high impact programming

  • Support Para Social Workers to enroll and assess program eligible beneficiaries following the PEPFAR and MGLSD OVC beneficiary identification and case management procedures.

  • Ensure proper application and storage of program case management tools to facilitate effective and systematic case management from enrolment through beneficiary graduation.

  • Works with the data officer and data entrants to ensure that data is properly entered in the UDOTS and OVCMIS.

  • Lead person to regularly monitor and track implementation of household improvement and individual OVC case plans.

  • Offer timely technical assistance to Para Social Workers on OVC HIV case identification, linkages to care and Treatment as well as Retention and adherence strategies.

  • Works closely with Linkage Coordinators for the maintenance of effective and functional community facility services referral networks.

  • Works with Facility staff to conduct monthly case conference meetings
    with Para Social Workers to review and assess progress on implementation of OVC case plans and performance of HIV/AIDS referrals from community to facility and facility to community.

  • Leads person in ensuring that beneficiaries receive appropriate services package layering.

  • Ensures VAC survivors receive the necessary support services including legal, medical, social and others working with the relevant government & nongovernment authorities/service providers

    Knowledge and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and Social Administration, or Related humanities field

  • Training in Child Protection, and VAC

  • Experience with DREAMS & OVC programming is an added advantage

  • Working knowledge with the Uganda DREAMS & OVC Tracking System (UDOTS), OVCMIS is an added advantage

  • Good communication and presentation skills

  • Ability to work in a rural and multi-cultural environment especially at sub county level

  • Certificate in counseling is an added advantage

  • Ability to work under minimum supervision

  • Ability to ride a motorcycle and possession of a valid riding permit.
