Job Purpose

  • To deliver professional Human Resource (HR) services to RTV Projects and organizational functions as part of a proactive and responsive HR team.

  • This role will provide pragmatic, creative and objective-focused HR solutions and recommendations and will develop strong working connections with managers and staff across all RTV offices (central, district, and headquarters).

  • The Human Resources Officer will be responsible for a range of strategic and tactical responsibilities to support the growing team, and establish best practice .

    Main Duties and Responsibilities

    • Provide an efficient, effective and client focused HR service which supports all aspects of an employee’s relationship and engagement with the organization including recruitment, terms and conditions of employment, training and development activities, ensuring compliance with employment legislation and organization policies.

    • Work with the Line Manager and HR staff team, including participating in performance reviews.

    • Build effective working relationships with staff at all levels, providing advice and guidance on a range of HR policies and HR related issues to support understanding and ensure effective communication of good HR practice.

    • Build relationships with managers at all levels and develop a good understanding of their work so as to be able to provide advice and guidance.

    • Support managers and provide generalist HR advice, to ensure the effective management of staff to achieve organizational goals.

    • Attend the Operation Meetings from time to time to update the SMT on HR related issues.

    • Ensure effective monitoring of sickness trends and remedial action in accordance with the organization’s policy and facilitate a proactive approach to absence management to ensure a smooth return to work

    • Take responsibility for the implementation and updating of all HR policies, ensuring that all HR issues are dealt with within the timescales set out in the procedures of the organization and that HR policies conform to current legislation.

    • Be the point of contact for any of our external HR support while also supporting the development of strong communication and feedback channels with all staff
    and through a variety of mechanisms to support employee engagement.

    • Ensure all data on manual and computerised records is accurate and up to date and provide accurate and timely reports as and when required.

    • Deliver internal training events on a range of employment related topics.

    • Undertake projects as agreed with Operations Manager and Director Operations.

    • Take responsibility for/manage workforce development opportunities for junior staff to support their personal and career growth plans.

    • Provide leadership and mentorship to the HR team.

    Experience

    • Demonstrable and progressive experience in a generalist HR role.

    • Experience of implementing new systems and processes across organisations.

    • Experience of working in not for profit setting.

    Knowledge and Skills

    • A sound understanding of the principles of good HR practice and knowledge of employment law.

    • Excellent oral and written English communication skills.

    • Good IT skills and proficiency in Microsoft suite.

    Qualifications and Training

    • Post-secondary education within a related field or a combination of professional experience and education or the equivalent level of attainment gained through professional experience.

    • Minimum 3 years of progressive leadership experience in Human Resources
