  • To ensure success, Medical Officers should exhibit extensive clinical knowledge and skills to provide personal, family and community orientated comprehensive primary care medical services to individuals and demonstrable experience in a similar managerial role.

  • An accomplished Medical Officer will be someone who can align their medical expertise with best practices in health administration.

    Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for playing a role in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients

  • Ensuring the highest standards in patient care is maintained.

  • Evaluates patients and refers them to specialized health care (consultants).

  • Actively participates in the delivery of quality health care to patients.

  • Adheres to the professional Code of Conduct and Ethics.

  • Takes part in Outreach and community health programs.

  • Participates in research activities and health data collection.

  • Compiles and submitting periodic reports.

  • Pro-actively participates in continuing Professional Development Programmes.

  • Performs any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

  • Reporting to senior management, as well as liaising between administrative and medical staff.

  • Ensuring consistent and accurate medical recordkeeping practices.

    Typical Background, Experience & Requirements

    Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine and Master’s Degree a plus.

  • Registered with the relevant health body i.e. Medical Council, Uganda Allied Health Council, etc.

  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience in medical support functions, with increasing responsibility and experience within a busy and dynamic business environment
    a plus.

  • Additional education may substitute for some experience; additional experience may substitute for some education.

  • Staff management experience and abilities that are conducive to a learning environment a plus.

  • Proficient in MS Office package (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio) and information management systems.

    Personal Skills

  • Very good planning, organizational, and time management skills

  • Ability to make sound judgment and good decisions

  • Strong customer service orientation with very good communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ethical conduct and ability to maintain confidentiality

  • Proactive, resourceful, solutions-oriented, and results-oriented

  • Required/Desired Foreign Language: n/a
