Pwani University Assistant Lab Technician
(Medical Anatomy) Grade B Job Opportunities in Mombasa


Responsibilities

  • Conducting Anatomy practicals and evaluation of Diploma Undergraduate, and Post Graduate students.
  • Setting practical examinations.
  • Assist in maintaining an updated inventory of consumables and non-consumables.
  • Assist in demonstrating procedures.
  • Be in charge of proper storage of human specimen and material.
  • Ensure proper labeling of Human Materials.
  • Ensure proper protocols are followed in discarding human remains.
  • Assist in conducting student practical sessions.
  • Issuing and collecting practical manuals to and from students
  • Assist in preparation of budgets for teaching materials
  • Ensuring that the laboratory is opened/locked in time
  • Ensuring that the laboratory work environment is safe
  • Maintaining laboratory equipment
  • Making Orders, receiving, and providing care for laboratory specimens and storage of preserved specimens.
  • Maintain accurate record keeping and retrieval systems.
  • Maintain clean and tract equipment

    Qualifications

  • Applicants Must have a Diploma or Higher National Diploma in Mortuary Science, or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
  • Applicants with certificates in the relevant field with more than two years of experience will have an added advantage.
  • Have a minimum of two (2) years relevant practical working experience with proven integrity, independence,
    innovativeness and compliance to deadlines.
  • Be a member of relevant professional body.
    Skills
  • Practice the human anatomy act.
  • Handle human specimen with respect.
  • Handle chemicals in use and aware of risks hazards involved.

    Responsibilities

  • Repairing, maintaining and altering buildings, retaining walls and other brick or stone edifices.
  • Install and repair tile floors and /or walls.
  • Assisting the Technical team in preparation of bills of quantities for masonry works.
  • Construction of small and medium masonry structures
  • Maintenance of the brick lined external drainage systems for waste water.
  • Plastering ceilings and walls.
  • Doing carpentry work incidental to masonry work.
  • Delegating work to helpers.
  • Reading blue prints.
  • Mixing mortar, laying brick/stones and /concrete sidewalks, paved walkways, making and repairing steps.

    Qualifications

  • Applicants must a have a minimum qualification of KCSE Mean Grade D (plain) or its equivalent plus a Government
    Trade Test II in Masonry or equivalent certificate in Masonry from an accredited Technical Training Institution.
  • Be physically fit
  • Have a certificate of good conduct from the Kenya Police
  • Have held a clean record of service
    Experience and responsibility
  • Applicants must have at least two (2) years masonry experience and shown merit and ability in their job performance.
  • Applicants must have proven integrity, assertiveness, alertness and compliance to orders.
  • Knowledge in the use masonry related tools, masonry techniques, equipment and materials.
  • Skill in the construction, alteration, repair, and maintenance of masonry structures and surfaces
  • Should be able to read and interpreted building plans and drawings.

    Pwani University Head Cook (Pastry) Grade A Job Opportunities in Mombasa

    Responsibilities

  • Preparing a wide
    variety of pastry such as cakes, bread (in large quantities) bread rolls, cookies, cakes or other baked goods.
  • Monitoring stocks for baking ingredients such as flour, sugar, etc. and make appropriate orders within budget.
  • Checking quality of material and condition of equipment and devices used for cooking.
  • Guiding and motivating pastry staff and bakers to work more efficiently
  • Responsible for complete set up, cleanliness and organization of the Pastry section and bakery areas at all kitchen locations.
  • Assisting with the development of standardized recipes for all menu items. Ensure that recipes are accurate and updated as needed.
  • Working closely with and maintaining good relation with all culinary team members and other departments.
  • Recommending measures to improve production/ service methods, equipment performance, scheduling, quality control and suggest changes in working conditions.
  • Assisting with annual budgeting process and making recommendations with regards to the
    Bakery department.

    Qualifications

  • Applicants must have a minimum of a Diploma in Food and Beverage Production and Service or
    equivalent qualification with specialization in bakery from a recognized institution of culinary arts, pastry making, baking or relevant field.
    Experience
  • Applicants must have worked as a pastry Chef for a minimum period of two (2) years in a large and busy organization with proven integrity, independence, innovativeness and compliance to deadlines.
  • Show active involvement in International/Continental/Regional /National/ Local/Community activities.
  • Fully competent in all aspects of baking and pastry

    Responsibilities

  • User Education and Information Literacy to all users
  • Direct professors, researchers and graduate students in access and use of relevant databases
  • Collect data for statistical analysis and prepares regular narrative and statistical and comprehensive reports for the Librarian of the activities of Information and Research Services Section.
  • Create bibliographies, brochures, newsletters, bulletins, posters, user guides, promotional materials, and publicity spotlighting collections, services, and programs of the library
  • Creates displays to enhance the library experience and to promote use of library resources
  • Develop and maintains web-based instructional materials, tutorials, and/or guides for users and provide instructions to patrons in using the online catalog and other electronic tools and resources
  • Evaluates the work performance of reference, research and interlibrary loan services staff
  • Further education to keep knowledge of library practices and procedures current and train staff working in the areas of reference, research and interlibrary loan services
  • Interpret library policies and procedures to the public in a customer-friendly manner

    Qualifications

  • Applicants must have Bachelor’s Degree in Library and information Science/Studies, from a recognized University.
  • Applicants must have at least three (3) years working experience (post qualification experience) as a library Assistant
  • Grade C or equivalent position with proven integrity, honesty, independence, innovation and compliance to deadlines
