Position Summary

Pulse Sports are building a team of the best writers and social media content creators in sport. We have built our Sports teams in Nigeria, Ghana, and Uganda, and now we are looking for someone to help us do the same in Kenya!

Pulse Sports is the latest brand to be launched by Pulse Media, with the aim of becoming the number 1 sports media brand in Africa.
This role oversees our Nairobi office and reports directly to the Director of Sports Media for Africa.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build the Sports team in Kenya based on the framework we have used successfully in other countries.

  • Assess and hire staff in our sports editorial, social media, and video teams.

  • Work with the Head of Sports for Africa to create a content strategy and execute it on-the-ground.

  • Build a strong spirit and camaraderie.

  • Consistent reporting on content KPIs and performance against budget.

  • Networking and business development within sports and other relevant industries.

  • Manage major client and partner relationships and ensure client work is allocated correctly and delivered on time and to high standards.

  • Understand and analyse trends to work out what is working and what isn’t and improve engagement over time.

    What we are looking for

  • People and relationship management skills - managing client relationships and overseeing
    the sports team mean this job will require a lot of people skills.

  • Implementation/execution ability - you need to be able to get things done.

  • Understanding of trends in the sports and social media/content spaces, and of what audiences want to see and where market trends are going.
    You do not need experience in sports specifically, but need to be able to research and get up to speed quickly.

  • Strong presentation and reporting skills.

  • Ability to understand and create coherent strategies.

  • Experience managing multi-channel marketing campaigns (both digital and offline) is strongly preferred.

  • Experience in mass market industries such as betting, FMCG/drinks, or mass media is strongly preferred.

  • Humility and an open mind. You should be a quicker learner, and not ego-driven.
