Qualifications

  • Diploma in Gemstone Cutting, Lapidary, Gemology, Mineral Processing or Jewellery Technology from a recognized institution.

  • Knowledge of gemstone identification, grading and valuation techniques.

  • Ability to operate and maintain lapidary equipment.

  • Good hand–eye coordination, attention to detail and manual dexterity.

    Job Summary

    This is the entry and training grade for this cadre. An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a senior officer.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Examine rough gemstones and determine the best cutting plan.

  • Mark, saw, split and pre‑form gemstones for faceting.

  • Cut and facet gemstones to specified angles and proportions.

  • Polish gemstones to achieve maximum brilliance and quality.
