Public Service Commission Chief Superintending Geologist Jobs in Kenya

For appointment to this grade a candidate must have:-

served for a minimum period of eight (8) years and currently serving at the grade of Geologist I, CSG 9 and above or in a comparable and relevant position in the wider public service;

a Bachelor of Science degree in any of the following disciplines: Geology, Engineering Geology, Geophysics, Geochemistry, Geo-science or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;

be registered by the Geologists Registration Board of Kenya and be a member of the Geological Society of Kenya; and

demonstrated professional competence in work performance and results.

Duties and Responsibilities

monitoring and reviewing geological exploration activities in coal, geothermal and nuclear energy;

coordinating the design of geo-exploration field projects in coal, geothermal and nuclear energy;

developing geological exploration standards and guidelines in geo-energy sector;

reviewing geological exploration reports;

verifying exploration contract documents for compliance;

monitoring conformity to legislation and statutes related to geological exploration
activities in geo-energy sector;

ensuring implementation of environmental and social impact assessment recommendations for geo-energy sector projects; and

ensuring proper management of resources.
