PSC Senior Principal Mechanical Engineer (Mechanical & Water) Jobs in Kenya
Qualifications for appointment
Served cumulative service period of twelve (12) years, three (3) of which must have been in the grade of Principal Engineer (Building & Water), CSG 7 or in a comparable and relevant position in the public service
Bachelor of Science or Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical and Production Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering or its equivalent qualification from a university recognized in Kenya
Registered by Engineers Board of Kenya as a Professional Engineer
Registered as a Corporate Member of the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (MIEK)
Valid annual practicing license from the Engineers Board of Kenya
Demonstrated high degree of professional competence and administrative capability as reflected in work performance and results
Duties and responsibilities
Develop, implement and review policies, strategies, standards, guidelines, procedures and frameworks pertaining to mechanical engineering (building and water) and fire engineering services
Supervise development, planning, designing, detailing and preparation of drawings, bills of quantities and tender documents for mechanical engineering (building and water) and fire engineering works and projects
Supervise construction, installation, improvement and maintenance of mechanical engineering (building and water) and fire engineering works and projects
Ensure quality control of completed mechanical engineering (building and water) and fire engineering works and projects
Supervise mechanical engineering (building and water) and fire engineering works and contracts before, during and after completion
Coordinate site assessment during planning, design, construction, installation, maintenance and repair works
Review and recommend approval of engineering consultants’ designs
Evaluate and certify fees submitted by consultants
Review designs, project proposals and reports prepared by consultants
Design mechanisms for monitoring and evaluation of mechanical engineering (building and water) and fire engineering works and projects
Prepare specifications for procurement of spare parts for repair and maintenance of equipment, machines and plant
Conduct research in emerging trends and technologies in mechanical engineering (building and water)
Prepare project costings and budgets for mechanical engineering (building and water) and fire engineering services
Maintain information on mechanical engineering services (building and water)
Prepare progress reports
Prepare strategic/work plans, budgets and performance targets
Coach and mentor staff
