PSC Deputy Director, Building Safety & Quality Assurance Jobs in Kenya
Qualifications for appointment
Cumulative service period of twelve (12) years, three (3) of which must have been in the grade of Senior Principal Building Inspection and Audit, CSG 7 or in a comparable and relevant position in the public service
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Quantity Survey, Survey, Design, Urban and Regional Planning, Building Economics or equivalent qualification from a university recognized in Kenya
Registered by a relevant and recognized professional body
Demonstrated professional competence and managerial skills as reflected in work performance and results
Duties and responsibilities
At Headquarters – Built Environment Inspection
Work in collaboration with relevant stakeholders in reviewing and ensuring implementation of national built environment inspection policies, strategies, programmes, procedures, guidelines and regulations
Supervise preparation of standard inspection manuals and templates for use by relevant agencies
Work with multi-sectoral agencies in conducting pre-inspection, inspection and post-inspection of built environment structures
Engage relevant agencies in conducting continuous and periodic safety health inspections of built environment structures
Work with relevant stakeholders involved in search, rescue and evacuation missions
Supervise research work and promote benchmark studies with other institutions to keep abreast with emerging trends in built environment inspection issues
Maintain the national built environment inspection electronic database
At Headquarters – Built Environment Audit
Work in collaboration with relevant stakeholders in reviewing and ensuring implementation of national built environment audit policies, strategies, procedures, programmes, guidelines and regulations
Supervise preparation of standard audit manuals and templates for use by relevant agencies
Work in consultation with multi-sectoral agencies in promoting built environment audit inspections in compliance with required guidelines and standards
Liaise with relevant agencies in conducting continuous and periodic safety health audit inspections of built environment structures
Work in consultation with relevant stakeholders in addressing remedial measures in built environment
Collaborate with relevant stakeholders in mapping built environment audit inspections
Provide technical guidance to vetting committees on built environment audit inspections
Supervise research work and promote benchmark studies with other institutions to keep abreast with emerging trends in built environment audit issues
Maintain the national built environment audit electronic database
