Production Supervisor (Plastics Manufacturing) Jobs in Nairobi, Kenya

Our client, a successful and leading plastics manufacturing company requires experienced Production Supervisor with a plastic injection moulding machine background.

The successful candidate will ensure the safety of each employee and help drive a safety first workforce while ensuring top notch quality production.

Additionally, He/she will have the opportunity to drive strategic initiatives focused on continuous improvement, increased productivity and cost savings for an assigned shift by performing the following duties;

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage, direct and coordinate all activities related to a production shift to maximize productivity and minimize cost while maintaining quality
  • Interpret specifications and job orders and assign duties based upon work priority, quantity of equipment, and skill of personnel
  • Monitor production output to ensure maximum productivity through the achievements of production targets
  • Raise Material requisition based on product planned
  • Recommend measures to improve safety, quality of product, production methods, and equipment performance.
  • Monitoring the post handling of products to ensure conformity to standards
  • Maintaining safe and clean work environment by training staff on proper use of equipment
  • Ensure required overall equipment efficiency levels are maintained by calling for repairs; evaluating new equipment and techniques and giving timely feedback to the maintenance team
  • Provide manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data
  • Manage safety by addressing both physical and employee behavioral related safety issues to ensure minimum unsafe incidents at workplace and compliance with legislation and ensuring staff are
    in Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Train and up skill the production teams in shift to ensure highly skilled and trained staff in line with business needs.
  • Maintain time and production records and accurately complete all reports as required by the Company
  • Any other duties as assigned

    Key Competencies & Qualifications:
  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Moulding Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Plastic Manufacturing Industry, 3 years of which must have worked as a supervisor
  • Track record of successful hands-on involvement with manufacturing and support team members
  • Motivated to excel in a fast paced environment
  • Must be shift flexible
  • Ability to learn new skills and expand technical knowledge
  • Able to function effectively in a team based environment
  • Ability to conceptualize and implement solutions to basic manufacturing problems
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work
