About the JobThe internal audit function is aimed at providing independent oversight on the quality of financial and operational functions of the Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU) including donor funded projects.
The internal audit services will work across all departments and projects’ operational and financial processes, and identify weaknesses and suggest improvements.
Reporting
The Internal Audit will report to the PSFU Board through the Chairman Audit Committee on issues relating to the efficient operation of the institution and Project oversight bodies for donor funded projects.
The role will be to design Audit procedures and implementation of those procedures with the aim of minimizing risks and safeguarding resources as well as ensuring financial systems comply with institutional procedures. Administratively the Internal Auditor will report to the Executive Director, PSFU.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Develop the internal audit annual coverage plan for the PSFU and its projects covering risk and adequacy of management controls and procedures in all areas of the organization.
Perform internal audit assignments on a systematic and periodic basis in accordance with the annual coverage plan.
Assist in the design of internal controls on financial and operational processes
Review financial and operational processes and identify weaknesses.
Consolidate and prepare quarterly audit reports to the Board and relevant oversight bodies under projects.
Seek ways in which to improve efficiency, economy, transparency and completeness in the financial and operational processes.
Follow-up implementation of recommendations by the external auditors.
Review and investigate integrity breaches by staff & associated
service providers and work with the Executive Director to resolve matters.
Perform engagements with the least possible interference in the day-to-day functioning of the PSFU.
Carry out any other assignments as required by the PSFU board and management
The Internal Auditor will develop an in-depth understanding of the functions to be audited possess analytical skills and experience in identifying inefficiencies, present recommendations and resolve issues with Management.
Basic Education
A Business/Mathematical Degree, computer literacy with advanced skills in the use of MS Office tools
Qualification
Should be a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) and Certified Internal Auditor.
Minimum Experience
5 years of Audit work with an audit firm and or a large organization/business. Previous experience working with a Business Membership Organization will be an advantage.
