Job Description

PHE-Ethiopia Consortium supports to development practitioners in Ethiopia in developing integrated approaches to their work, an integrated approach that connects issues of population, health and environment that contributes for the success of GTP and MDG.

Job Summary

The Accountant will work with program team to assist program related functions. The program assistant provides programmatic assistance to technical/program staffs.

S/he perform program related tasks needed to implement
planned activities and assist staff to ensure appropriate information sharing among administration, program, and technical PHE Ethiopia Consortium.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Ensure that proper financial procedure, and systems are operated.
  • Ensure that all financial transactions are compliant with internal policies and donor regulations.
  • Responsible for receiving all the petty cash payment vouchers from the cashier, compile and prepare a journal voucher.
  • Responsible for the preparation of vouchers, and checks for all project expenditures; ensure that all payments are supported by documentation as required by donor regulations and are allocated to the appropriate cost category.
  • Maintain a comprehensive filling system for financial and administrative (personnel) documents and.
  • Follow up all purchase items GRN, GIN & store management.
  • Ensure the processing of all travel facilities and advance requests and travel expense reports, checking for accuracy and compliance with donor and
    PHE regulations.
  • Prepare monthly payroll for all staff.
  • Prepare and compile all the financial documents for a monthly, quarterly and biannual financial and administrative reports,
    Put in place the support services, including transportation, security, utilities, insurance, telephones and maintenance services.
  • Follow-up the use of the vehicles and daily errands, ensuring that vehicle logs are properly maintained.
  • Follow up, update & maintain log books for PHE membership fee collection, staff medical expenses & fixed asset inventory.
  • Perform any other duties as required and/or assigned by the finance and Operation Officer and the Executive Director.

    Work Place :

  • Bale , Ethiopia with a possibility of field travel .

    Job Requirements

    Skills and Requirements

  • Diploma in Accounting from recognized college
  • Extensive experience in using personal computers.
  • Skills in quick books and excel ability is an advantage.
  • Quality experience in general Accounting
  • Principles and Procedures
  • Good command of written and spoken English language
