Role Purpose

  • The Content Development and Partnership Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating development of content for the technical areas that Plan International Uganda has been assigned to take lead on across the region working in collaboration with relevant consortium partners.

  • He/she will play an active role in Consortium partner coordination meetings and activities as well as support the National Program Manager in the development of documents for new funding opportunities.

  • Play Matters- Sparking Life Long Learningis a 5 year Projectfunded by the LEGO Foundation. The project is aimed at supporting play-based learning for children aged 3-12 years in refugee and host communities in the West Nile region. The project goal is to see every child inspired by playful learning, in every setting, every day, at school, in the home, and in the community.

    Dimensions of the Role

  • Lead on coordinating Consortium partners in the development of ECCE learning material including subject matter content under Plan International Uganda mandate.

  • Manage and coordinate identification of content development consultants for the various technical areas

  • Play a lead role in supporting collection and review of existing subject-matter content, documents and curricula materials

  • Lead/support content development and adaptation

  • Provide leadership in the translation of materials developed.

  • Support Field team in the distribution of LTP materials

  • Review and prepare quality input to draft materials developed by other lead partners

  • Support in the development of project work plans, budget and MEL documents.

  • Support deliver and manage training of various stakeholders and consortium partners

  • Participate in project coordination meetings including convening some of the meetings that are directly under the responsibility of Plan International Uganda.

  • Effectively represent Plan International Uganda in relevant consortium meetings

  • Support in the development of documents such as concept notes, briefs, proposals and budgets for funding opportunities for the education portfolio.

  • Work closely with project field staff and other broader stakeholders.

    Key Relationships

  • The Content and Partnership Coordinator will work in close collaboration with Consortium Partners, Education stakeholders at national, and district levels.

  • H/she will specifically maintain regular working relationship with project Consortium members, and education stakeholders relevant to the task assigned.

  • In addition, H/she will also maintain regular working relationship with other partners implementing similar interventions in the project locations to ensure harmonized programming and implementation of project interventions.

    Technical expertise, skills and knowledge

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Early Childhood Development/Primary Education, Child Development, Development Studies, Social Sciences or any relevant field with wide demonstrated relevant experience working with International Non-Governmental Organisations.

  • At least five years of progressively professional work experience in design, implementation and evaluation of Early Childhood Development or Primary Education programmes. Familiarity with Learning through Play strategies is an asset.

  • Excellent coordination and organization skills. Able to work in a consortium arrangement and keep track of multiple priorities and adhere to deadlines

  • Demonstrated skills and experience in report writing, donor compliance and budget management.

  • Ability to Identify and synthesis best practices and lessons learned to promote knowledge management and sustainability.

  • Ability to work in hard to reach hard to stay areas and familiar with programming for vulnerable children especially young girls and boys.

  • Establishes effective partnerships with external stakeholders

  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, with ability to work with people from diverse cultures

  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft software including MS Word processing, Power point presentation, Excel spreadsheets, e-mail and web based research.

  • Experience of gender mainstreaming, gender equality and inclusion in development programming

  • Experience working with Education or Child protection programmes in a humanitarian context.

    Physical Environment

  • The Education Project Coordinator will be based in Country Office with frequent travel to all Play Matters project locations in West Nile and South Western Uganda

  • Level of contact with children

  • Frequent direct interaction with children

  • Safe guarding Children and Young People Policy (mandatory for all staff)

  • Adhere to the Child Protection Policy, Code of Conduct and reporting any CPP issues.

  • Responsible for the implementation of the CPP standards as they apply to the area of responsibility plus the development of actions to address identified gaps and monitoring their effectiveness.

  • Ensure that all Plan International partners, visitors, and associates in his/her area of responsibility are provided with, are made aware of and have signed and returned a copy of the child protection policy. Inform the partners, visitors, and associates that they must comply with the policy in all contacts and communications with children during their visit.

  • Ensures that Plan International’s global policies for Child Protection (CPP) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI) are fully embedded in accordance with the principles and requirements of the policy including relevant Implementation Standards and Guidelines as applicable to their area of responsibility. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring staff and associates are aware of and understand their responsibilities under these policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), their relevance to their area of work, and that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.
