Plan International Resilience and Humanitarian Programming Manager Jobs in Kenya; Provide strategic, technical, and operational leadership for Plan International Kenya’s humanitarian preparedness, emergency response, and resilience programming. Ensure PIK is equipped to prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies while building long‑term community resilience, driving climate adaptation, and leading nexus programming across the portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Leadership

  • Lead and integrate humanitarian, resilience, and climate strategies in line with global standards.

  • Drive nexus programming, policy advocacy, and protection of girls.

  • Coordinate multisectoral stakeholders and maintain a trained emergency response team.

  • Represent PIK in national humanitarian and DRR coordination platforms.

    Program Design & Implementation
  • Design and oversee humanitarian and resilience programs in crisis‑affected areas.

  • Ensure interventions are gender‑transformative, climate‑ and conflict‑sensitive, and inclusive.

  • Lead assessments, response planning, DRR, early action, and climate‑resilient livelihoods.

  • Advocate for protection, resilience, climate justice, and gender equality.

    Preparedness & Emergency Response
  • Lead emergency preparedness planning through risk analysis, early warning, contingency plans, and simulations.

  • Ensure strong coordination, surge capacity, and procurement readiness.

  • Provide technical leadership during crises and monitor national disaster risk assessments.

    Quality Assurance & Accountability
  • Ensure programs meet international standards and donor requirements.

  • Strengthen accountability through feedback mechanisms and real‑time learning.

  • Implement robust monitoring and evaluation with MERL to track impact.

  • Document best practices and adapt strategies based on lessons learned.

    Fundraising & Donor Engagement
  • Lead donor engagement and resource mobilisation for humanitarian and climate‑resilience programming.

  • Secure grants, strengthen external relations, and enhance visibility in coordination forums.

    Capacity Strengthening
  • Build partner capacity in emergency response, DRR, climate adaptation, and nexus programming.

  • Provide technical mentorship and champion locally led preparedness and response models.

    Team Leadership & Management
  • Manage and mentor humanitarian and resilience teams.

  • Build a culture of gender equality,
    learning, accountability, and high performance.

  • Ensure surge capacity readiness and support staff wellbeing during emergencies.

    Finance & Compliance
  • Provide oversight of budgets, financial planning, and grant compliance.

  • Ensure accurate and timely expenditure tracking and reporting with Finance.

    Safeguarding & Inclusion
  • Uphold Plan International’s safeguarding, PII, gender equality, and inclusion policies.

  • Ensure adherence and enforcement of these principles across all programming.

    Requirements for Appointment

    Education
  • Master’s Degree in Humanitarian Studies, Climate Change Adaptation, Disaster Risk Management, International Development, Public Policy, or related field.

  • Bachelor’s Degree with over 10 years of relevant progressive experience may be considered.

    Experience
  • 8–10 years’ progressive experience in humanitarian response, resilience, DRR, climate programming, or nexus initiatives.

  • Minimum 5 years in a senior leadership role.

  • Experience managing emergency responses in complex contexts (drought, conflict, refugee settings, disease outbreaks).

    Technical Expertise
  • Strong understanding of climate adaptation and resilience frameworks.

  • Knowledge of DRR, early warning/early action systems.

  • Familiarity with humanitarian principles, Sphere, CHS, and HDP Nexus.

    Skills & Competencies
  • Proven donor engagement and resource mobilisation skills.

  • Experience representing organisations in national coordination structures.

  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, communication, and negotiation skills.

  • Team management and partner capacity‑building experience.
