Plan International Project Coordinator Jobs in Nigeria



Job Purpose

To ensure effective and timely implementation and coordination of the Akelius‑funded Education Pilot Project in Kano State, in line with donor agreements, organisational policies, and government regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure stewardship of Plan International Nigeria resources and compliance with donor, organisational, and government policies.

  • Coordinate project implementation in line with approved workplans, budgets, and timelines.

  • Develop and maintain detailed implementation plans, activity trackers, and milestone monitoring tools.

  • Monitor progress and ensure timely delivery of outputs and deliverables.

  • Coordinate inception, review meetings, quarterly learning sessions, and project close‑out activities.

  • Monitor monthly expenditure, BvA reports, and burn rates; support forecasting and budget revisions.

  • Coordinate deployment and monitoring of Akelius devices and digital learning resources.

  • Support learner orientation, facilitator training, coaching, mentoring, and technical assistance.

  • Implement MERL activities (baseline, periodic assessments, endline).

  • Document lessons learned, best practices, innovations, and success stories.

  • Engage stakeholders (Akelius Foundation, Plan Sweden, FMoE, UBEC, NERDC, Kano State Ministry of Education, SAME, SANE, LGEAs, communities).

  • Prepare and submit quality monthly, quarterly, and donor reports.

  • Coordinate with Finance, Supply Chain, MERL, Safeguarding, Communications, and Programme Support teams.

  • Identify and manage implementation risks; apply mitigation measures.

  • Integrate safeguarding, gender equality, disability inclusion, and accountability principles.

  • Represent Plan International Nigeria at technical meetings and stakeholder engagements.

  • Perform other project‑related duties as assigned.

    Safeguarding Responsibilities

  • Commit to creating a safe environment for children and programme participants.

  • Adhere to Global Safeguarding Policy, Code of Conduct, and PSHEA standards.

  • Report and respond to safeguarding concerns immediately.

  • Ensure communities, staff, associates, and visitors are aware of safeguarding standards.

  • Conduct risk assessments and apply mitigation measures in line with safeguarding standards.

    Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Project Management, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or related field (Master’s an advantage).

  • Completion of NYSC compulsory.

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience coordinating donor‑funded education or development programmes.

  • Experience in Nigeria’s basic and non‑formal education sector.

  • Experience with government education stakeholders
    and community structures.

  • Strong knowledge of MERL processes.

  • Experience implementing digital learning or education technology programmes.

  • Experience with ABEP or alternative education programmes.

  • Experience with Akelius or similar digital learning platforms.

  • Experience with Plan International or similar INGOs.

    Skills & Competencies

  • Strong project coordination, planning, budgeting, and management skills.

  • Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines.

  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.

  • Excellent report writing, presentation, and communication skills.

  • Knowledge of safeguarding, gender equality, disability inclusion, and accountability principles.

  • Ability to document lessons learned and use evidence to improve programme quality.

  • Experience with digital learning platforms and education technology.

  • Strong interpersonal, facilitation, and problem‑solving skills.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English;
