Plan International Head of Business Development Jobs in Tanzania;We are seeking a Head of Business Development to lead and transform Plan International Tanzania’s resource mobilisation function, delivering ambitious, diversified, and sustainable income growth aligned with the Country Strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Resource Mobilisation and Growth
Develop and implement a forward‑looking resource mobilisation strategy.
Drive funding diversification across donors, foundations, private sector, and innovative finance.
Lead donor intelligence, market analysis, and opportunity identification.
Build and manage a strong funding pipeline and forecasting system.
Advise Country Leadership Team on opportunities, risks, and investment decisions.
Strategic Partnerships and External Positioning
Position Plan International Tanzania as a leading partner in gender equality and youth empowerment.
Develop and maintain high‑value relationships with donors, government, private sector, civil society, INGOs, and National Offices.
Lead consortium development and partnership building.
Strengthen donor engagement and relationship management capacity.
Represent the organisation externally and promote mission and values.
Proposal Development and Competitive Bidding
Lead development and submission of high‑quality funding proposals.
Coordinate cross‑functional teams to design evidence‑based programmes.
Ensure proposals integrate gender‑transformative programming, safeguarding, and inclusion.
Oversee proposal budgets and compliance with donor requirements.
Drive successful fundraising outcomes through effective opportunity management.
Grants Management and Compliance
Strengthen grant management, compliance, and reporting systems.
Ensure smooth transition from acquisition to implementation.
Work with programme and finance teams to optimise cost recovery and forecasting.
Promote data‑driven decision‑making through portfolio analytics.
Innovation and New Business Models
Identify and pursue innovative financing opportunities (blended, results‑based, impact partnerships).
Develop private sector engagement strategies aligned
with ESG priorities.
Explore climate finance and South‑South partnerships.
Enhance visibility through communications and digital engagement.
Localisation and Partnership Excellence
Lead partnership mapping, selection, and due diligence.
Ensure frameworks and agreements comply with organisational and donor requirements.
Strengthen localisation and equitable partnerships with local organisations.
Maintain robust partnership systems and databases.
Safeguarding, Gender Equality and Inclusion
Champion safeguarding, gender equality, and inclusion across business development.
Ensure policies, standards, and codes of conduct are applied throughout funding and partnership lifecycle.
Requirements
Significant experience leading resource mobilisation or business development.
Proven success securing large‑scale funding from institutional donors, foundations, and private sector.
Strong experience in complex proposal development and competitive bidding.
Demonstrated ability to build strategic partnerships and influence stakeholders.
Understanding of donor trends, localisation, climate financing, and evolving mechanisms.
Experience managing complex portfolios and leading teams in matrix structures.
Excellent strategic thinking, negotiation, and communication skills.
Strong financial and commercial acumen (budgeting, forecasting, risk management).
