PharmAccess Foundation is an international organization with its head office in the Netherlands and country offices in Kenya, Tanzania, Nigeria and Ghana. PharmAccess designs, innovates and implements products and services for the benefit of healthcare facilities, doctors and patients to facilitate access to better healthcare for all.

Example of such products and services are our health insurance programs, mobile and digital innovations (M-TIBA), loans to doctors (Medical Credit Fund), clinical standards (SafeCare) and impact research, all implemented in a public-private partnership approach through Kenyan and international companies, organizations and government institutes.

PharmAccess employs approximately 240 international staff with various backgrounds ranging from medical, economic to scientific experts and leaders.

The Position

The Value Based HealthCare Financing Business Lead will be responsible for the design, testing, implementation and scaling of our VBHC Financing product into a sustainable business model.

The role holder will work closely with the Kenya team as well as an international team.

The Business Lead will be responsible for the following:

  • Market entry: setting up the independent business line in Value Based HealthCare Financing for maternal child care.
  • Product development: develop the outcome-based Mother and Child Care product offering to suit Kenyan market needs in close collaboration with the team and in accordance with a positive business case and in alignment with Kenya’s UHC strategy.
  • Relationship management & Sales: lead relationship management and sales of the outcome-based Mother and Child Care offer within the Kenyan market and realize scale that can be measured in a tangible growth curve in product uptake. In this regard, the Business Lead – with the team – will also collaborate closely and manage key relationships with industry experts
  • Contracting: Ensure proper contracting (incl. GDPR compliance) is in place with health care providers and end-users, and between health care providers if so required (in case of referral contracting)
  • Product implementation: Designing and implementing a quality controlled standardized implementation procedure and corresponding roadmap together with the operations manager
  • Budget: Proactively manage and oversee the dedicated project budget lines to deliver results within strong budget control
  • Reporting: Prepare and ensure quality management reporting for internal use concerning the product, the market and product uptake and roll-out; as well as external reporting to stakeholders (clients, supporters) according to requirements

    Qualification & Requirements
  • At least between 5-7 years of
    work experience in the private sector with responsibilities directly relating to business and product development.
  • Proven and successful track record of having developed and launched one or more consumer products within the Kenyan market.
  • Strong analytical and commercial skills with the capability to develop a sound business case and corresponding pricing strategy for a consumer product and the sales skills to scale this in the market; as well as data analysis and interpretation.
  • Strong relationship management skills that allow for easy and understanding interaction with various stakeholders ranging from experts in the Mother and Child field, to health care providers and professionals and end-consumers in the market.
  • Sound product development experience that caters for the design, support and supervision of a cost-efficient high-quality product roll-out strategy.
  • Affinity and experience in leveraging technology to solve complex problems and a strong understanding of how technological roadmaps and solutions work in practice; previous Product Owner responsibilities are considered a plus.
  • Well versed in the full Microsoft Office package with the explicit ability to develop business cases in excel and to deliver high quality project management reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Self-steering professional with a passion for iterative product design which is continuously validated based on consumer needs.
  • Team player with strong project management and managerial skills that takes on overall project responsibility while empowering people to grow and further develop, thereby supporting the scaling of the team and its skills in line with the scaling of the product within the market.
  • Masters degree in Business Administration, Finance or a relevant related discipline.
