    Vocational And Skill Development Expert

  • Under direct supervision Education and Social Protection Program Manager, Vocational and Skills development expert is primarily responsible for any material development and revision activities and the management of quality and standards in the project implementation.

    Main duties and Responsibilities

  • Review existing policies pertaining to vocational education/training Centers and their effectiveness and give recommendations to improve.

  • Review existing policies pertaining to vocational training and their effectiveness in creating demand for skills based jobs.

  • Prepare a performance-monitoring plan for on-going professional development of TVET staff.

  • Mentor and conduct TVET teacher and Principal training programs.

  • Identifying and meeting stakeholders such as companies and sector skills councils, and discuss the opportunities for placing skilled students.

  • Building capacities of the States to strengthen the existing data collection and processing system to establish a skills-database and labor market information system.

  • Collaborating with small and medium enterprises to develop vocational training models in schools to create demand for skill-based workforce.

  • Consult with a range of companies and training providers to identify safe and decent employment opportunities for the youth, especially the women and the youth, once they have received suitable training and other quality skills training programs.

  • Facilitate agreements among TVET, Private companies and relevant government sector offices, industries. So that they begin to focus and rely more on BOLSA as a source for skilled youth.

  • Promotion and sharing of good practices and foster innovation in introducing vocational training for students and VET trainers.

  • Building capacities of TVET colleges to strengthen the Vocational Education and Training component.

  • Support the preparation of reports/project deliverables.

  • Shoulder any other responsibility as assigned by the Team Leader.

    Maternal Development

  • Leads and coordinates all material development and revision processes.

  • Ensure the quality and timeliness of all materials development

  • Leads the development of
    the content of all the project training and workshop

  • Develop manuals, guidelines, toolkits and handouts necessary for trainings and project implementation.

  • Develop monitoring and evaluation tools/instruments

  • Liaises and maintains professional relationship with educational institutes and experts cooperating on the project

  • Prepares appropriate manuscripts consisting of crosscutting and emerging issues

  • Archiving of all entrusted documents related to the training and material development activities in proper manner

  • Develops beneficiary feedback format, collects feedback information, organizes and documents in an organized and systematic manner

  • Prepares training and observations checklists, formats, aids, manuals and hand-outs for all project trainings and workshops

    Monitoring, Quality Management and Coordination of Project Events, Trainings and Workshops

  • Participates in need identification and other trainings and/or revises the existing training procedures and techniques

  • Plans, organizes and conducts project trainings, workshops and monitoring and evaluation with desirable quality and standard in cooperation with other team members

  • Ensure the quality of trainings and workshops at all levels

  • Ensures that periodic follow-up and feedback is provided to trainees

  • Coordinates project activities – trainings, workshops, donations and other events and financial management related to these activities.

  • Conducts follow-ups, monitoring and evaluations in schools involved in the project

  • Organize, reports and archives the information from monitoring and evaluation in a meaningful and systematic manner

  • Prepare good quality training and observation reports regularly

    Cooperation, Relationship and Team Management

  • Continuously informs the project managers and field staffs about progresses in the project implementation, prepare overall weekly reports and provides it as per the standard reporting format and schedule

  • Provide periodic supervision and feedback to teacher trainers

  • Maintain good personal relationship with the team

  • Follow up attendances of teacher trainers

  • Work with and coordinates the trainers and consultants

  • Closely cooperates with the project manager and the education team members in any undertakings within the project.

  • Attend weekly staff meetings

  • Prompt provision of all relevant information to education team members and other internal and external stakeholders.

    Other

  • Ensure that all important and relevant documents are organized and documented systematically in both electronic and hard copies

  • Suggest improvements of project quality, relevance and efficiency

  • Meeting all project related deadlines

  • Maintaining smooth and professional relationship with project stakeholders

  • Adhering to all PIN and donor guidelines and policies and ensuring staff adheres to the same

  • Ensures correctness and completeness of information acquired and delivered.

  • Takeover the responsibilities of the project manager in his/her absence.

  • Carries out all other relevant assignments entrusted to him/her from the supervisor.

    Job Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in TVET leadership, Educational leadership and Management, Curriculum and Measurement, Educational Policy and Management, and other related fields of studies

  • A minimum of 5 years relevant experience in technical coordination of education projects, preferably within NGO setup

  • Knowledge of Ethiopian government education policies, strategies and programs

  • Experience of working with TVET collages , supervisors, directors, college instructors and education officials

  • Good command of MS Package (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook)

  • Strong writing, reporting and communication skills

  • Fluency in Amharic and English, both written and spoken

  • 3 strong references (will be crosschecked/contacted)
