Peace Winds Japan (PWJ) is a Japanese Non-Governmental Organization established in 1996. PWJ has been providing humanitarian and development assistance for people affected by forced displacement and natural disasters in more than 20 countries in the world.

PWJ launched its mission in Kenya in 2012 and has been implementing projects funded by UN agencies and the government of Japan in shelter, WASH and youth development to improve living environments of refugee and host populations while promoting peaceful coexistence and self-reliance in the communities in Dadaab, Kakuma and Kalobeyei.

In Turkana and Garissa Counties, PWJ is actively engaged in promoting sustainable solutions for protracted refugee situations through its WASH, shelter food security and livelihood projects in line with the National Government of Kenya as well as County Governments strategic plans.

PWJ is assigned as an implementing partner for UNHCR responsible for WASH, Shelter and Supply chain supports for Dadaab Refugee Camp, Kakuma Refugee camp and Kalobeyei Integrated Settlement.

The country office in Nairobi supports the local office team to ensure quality and accountable operations on the ground, as well as overall operation management, co-ordination with partners and resource management including fund raising at the country level.

Job Overview:

Office assistant/Cleaner reports to the respective Officers/Assistants (Finance, HR, Admin, Procurement & Logistic) as well as managers and Country representative, and is responsible for ensuring the office work as well as required office cleaning twice a week.

Job Description

This person should have experience working in an office environment, performing administrative tasks such
as handling emails, filing documents, photo copying, scanning, book keeping, data entry and providing support to coworkers. The ability to multitask to manage complex schedules and excellent communication skills are also required.

Office cleaning is also required twice a week to keep the office work space clean and tidy, mopping the floor, wiping desks, dusting, maintain the kitchen and the bathroom hygienically.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven success in office coordination

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent time-management and multitasking abilities

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of company information

  • Honestly and integrity to keep the office confidential information

  • High school diploma or equivalent

    Preferred Skills and Qualifications

  • Capability the use of office software such as Microsoft word, Excel, ERP or other software.
