Peace Brigades International Programme Development and Advocacy Advisor Jobs in Kenya; The Programme Development and Advocacy Advisor supports implementation and development of PBI Kenya’s programmes in conjunction with the Co‑Coordinators and wider team. The role contributes to programme implementation, advocacy, stakeholder engagement, fundraising, and organisational learning, strengthening protection work with human rights defenders and grassroots organisations while supporting long‑term sustainability and strategic objectives.
Main Duties, Tasks & Responsibilities
Programme Implementation & Development (40%)
Provide technical support for programme implementation, including CPS Programme activities.
Support capacity building initiatives for human rights defenders and grassroots organisations.
Coordinate monitoring, evaluation, and learning systems across programmes.
Monitor political, human rights, and social justice trends to inform operations and advocacy.
Contribute to organisational learning processes and CPS collaboration in Kenya.
Advocacy & External Relations (20%)
Design and support implementation of advocacy strategy.
Manage relationships with stakeholders (human rights organisations, government, diplomatic actors, partners).
Represent PBI Kenya in forums, networks, and coordination spaces.
Develop advocacy materials and contribute to communications products.
Support visibility and awareness‑raising on human rights defenders and social justice movements.
Project Development & Fundraising (20%)
Identify funding opportunities aligned with strategic priorities.
Develop concept notes, project proposals, and donor reports.
Support donor engagement and relationship management.
Assist programme design and development of new initiatives.
Maintain database of potential funders and partners.
Security & Risk Management (20%)
Manage protection
guidance and security measures for HRDs at risk.
Monitor and analyse security developments relevant to operations.
Advise on organisational security planning and risk management.
Maintain security systems and procedures.
Essential Qualifications / Person Specification
Minimum 3 years’ experience with international NGOs, human rights, or peacebuilding organisations.
Experience in advocacy, fundraising, project development, programme implementation, or organisational learning.
Strong understanding of Kenyan political, human rights, and social justice context.
Experience working with HRDs, grassroots organisations, or civil society actors.
Strong analytical, writing, and reporting skills.
Initiative, adaptability, and problem‑solving ability.
Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
Effective interpersonal and networking skills.
Ability to function in stressful/sensitive environments.
Experience in multi‑cultural teams and cross‑cultural settings.
Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
Strong organisational and time‑management skills.
Desirable Qualifications
Knowledge/experience with PBI or similar protective accompaniment organisations.
Experience in fundraising, donor engagement, or proposal development.
Experience supporting advocacy and communications initiatives.
Experience in security, protection, or risk management.
Knowledge of Kiswahili, Spanish, or German (advantageous).
