Pathfinder International NGO Deputy Chief of Party Careers in Kenya

Position Summary

As the Deputy Chief of Party and Technical Services will be responsible for the overall technical oversight of the Program and is specifically responsible for program implementation that relates to facility and community service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the COP in the successful programmatic and technical implementation of the program including the timely completion of high-quality work plans, accurate reports, and other mandated deliverables.
  • Assist the COP in monitoring program progress vis-a-vis expected objectives, utilizing tools and methods developed by Pathfinder, and ensuring effective usage of resources and compliance with donor requirements.
  • Oversee sub-grantees/sub-contractors, ensuring quality implementation of programming and achievement of agreed upon objectives and targets in accordance with established schedules and timelines.
  • Document technical components of materials and program achevements for communications materials such as annual reports, brochures, and website updates.
  • Identify, select, manage performance of, and mentor program staff ensuring professional and capacity building; facilitate necessary international technical assistance to promote program goals and objectives.
  • Support other country programs, provide technical assistance, and foster cross-country collaboration.

    Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in public health, social sciences, international development or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience designing, implementing, managing, monitoring, and evaluating large scale health service delivery programs in a developing country.
  • Demonstrated experience in health service delivery including behavioural change communications (BCC), community-based activities, and institution strengthening of local organizations.
  • Technical expertise in population, health, and nutrition programming.
  • Broad understanding of comprehensive health, population, and nutrition context in Kenya.
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully fulfilling performance objectives, including the timely implementation and reporting of donor-funded program activities.

    Pathfinder International NGO Conversations, livelihood Officer Careers in Kenya

    Position Summary

    Pathfinder International Kenya is looking for a candidate who will be responsible for providing technical support on conservation interventions, and Community Based Organizations (CBOs) supervision, Community Health Volunteers (CHVs) to the Community groups in collaboration with other stakeholders to implement the HoPE-LVB model.

    Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support on conservation interventions of the Project.
  • Provide support supervision to Community Based Organizations (CBOs) and community groups (Community Health Volunteers CHVs, farmers and women
    groups, Village Environmental Committees, Beach Management Units BMUs, male champions etc.) in collaboration with other HoPE-LVB team members in the successful implementation of the HoPE-LVB model at the community level.
  • Collaborate with the HoPE-LVB project team to implement integrated PHE activities including but not limited to organizing and supervising trainings and workshops/meetings among others.
  • Coordinate conservation and livelihood portfolios to ensure alignment with HoPE-LVB PHE strategy key performance and project impact indicators. More specifically, candidate must be able to build resilience capacity of model households and community members (particularly model households, women, and youth) through sustainable solutions and alternative livelihoods such as energy saving stoves and conservation smart agriculture.
  • Support existing model households that practice positive behaviors across health, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) and environment sectors (including joint work and decision-making by couples); further formalize exemplary model households as learning centers for visitors from neighboring villages and other LVB communities.
  • Engage women and youth as leaders in natural resource management/governance (agroforestry and sustainable agricultural livelihood practices) and health through capacity building/trainings on voluntary savings and loans, provision of goods/materials, networking and linkages, and promotion of joint decision-making on FP/MNCH and resource use.
  • Strengthen sustainable agriculture practices of model households through supporting agricultural extension agents to train model households, supporting demonstration sites within suitable model households, and utilizing community health extension agents to refer households to demonstration sites for learning.
  • Manage monthly, quarterly and annual conservation and livelihood work plans and budgets.
  • Coordinate timely reporting documentation and feedback to beneficiaries and donors.
  • Assist HoPE-LVB team in resource mobilization efforts by drafting conservation and livelihood components.
  • Support monitoring and evaluation of HoPE-LVB conservation and livelihood activities.

    Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in any field in Environmental Management/Science, Agriculture, Fisheries or any other relevant natural resource management fields. A degree from a recognized and accredited university will be an added advantage.
  • At least five (5) years of experience and proven hands-on track record in the fields of natural resource, Climate Change, agricultural practices, environmental management or related programming.
  • Prior experience in working with CBOs, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) or governments in natural resource and Environment management related programs.
  • Experience with wide range of donor reporting system and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent writing skills and ability to produce quality and timely reports as well as make valuable contribution towards development of conservation and livelihoods focused technical and funding proposals.
  • Experience with small-scale farmers and supporting of market-oriented initiatives.
