PATH is currently recruiting a Grants Officer for the Fleming Fund supported project on surveillance of antimicrobial-resistant bacteria in Kenya. The position will be based in Nairobi.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the timely review and accurate processing of new awards and amendments to existing awards.
  • Provide guidance to Project Administrators (PADMs) and project lead on terms and conditions of active awards, including any restrictions.
  • Develop necessary tools to make this data available electronically.
  • Act as primary liaison with Project Administrators regarding the status of awards that are about to expire, and status of awards that are active without award.
  • Work closely with the Grants and Contracts Manager and project lead to develop, draft and maintain for PATH a current complement of needed standard form agreement templates in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Work closely with Project Administrators (PADMs) where necessary to draft new Sub agreements and amendments to existing Sub agreements under active sponsored awards.
  • Review Sub agreement budgets and understand indirect cost implications.
  • Liaise with the Procurement Department if necessary when issues arise during procurement approval for Subcontracts.
  • Liaise with the Legal Department if necessary, during drafting of sub agreements.
  • Provide guidance to Project Administrators (PADMs) on the status of existing Sub agreements, and related policies and procedures.
  • Provide technical support to project teams on award and sub award management.
  • Support the project team to develop and execute comprehensive project close out plans.
  • Work closely with Grants and Contracts Staff and program teams to develop, review, and implement award/sub award management associated procedures within pre-established parameters.
  • Work closely with the Grants and
    Contracts Coordinator to ensure data integrity in the Awards and Sub awards database.

    Required Experience
  • A degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or related field.
  • ACCA finalist or CPA (K) qualification
    Proficiency in MS Suite especially advanced excel.
  • A minimum three (3) years’ relevant working experience in Grants, Audit or Finance.
  • Experience in USG Assistance or Acquisition as well as grants management with an international NGO and working with Salesforce will be an added advantage
  • Experience working with Salesforce will be an added advantage.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to manage a complex and diverse workload under tight deadlines.
  • Detail oriented; high degree of accuracy and strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent computer proficiency, particularly working with spreadsheets and databases.
  • Proven effectiveness working in a team under minimum supervision
  • Ability to interpret funding regulations and develop implementing procedures.
  • Ability to work independently with initiative to manage high volume workflow.
  • Candidates must currently have legal authorization to work in Kenya.
