Department Purpose:

Achieving systemic change and impact using Oxfam’s presence at every level from local, to regional, to global, aligned with the vision of the global strategic framework: influencing and engaging audiences around the world – through action and by generating financial support - to fight inequality to end poverty and injustice.

Team Purpose:

  • Ensuring that Oxfam’s influencing around the world including campaigns, advocacy, policy, research is high impact, and achieves systemic change with a focus on inequality and gender, rights & justice.

  • Leading, convening & managing Oxfam’s influencing work across the world. Consulting, co-creating and setting vision and direction of travel for Oxfam’s worldwide influencing work. Embedding an integrated people-powered approach in all Oxfam’s influencing work.

  • Enabling a strategic approach to working with allies and partners for influencing, ensuring co-creation, organisational humility, and support for partnerships and allyships

    Job Purpose:

  • Works with others to ensure the effectiveness of influencing work on inequality around the world and across the confederation at every level – country, regional, affiliate and advocacy offices - embedding clear power analysis and theories of change, and delivering effective strategies for systemic change.

  • Leads on the development and implementation of inequality related public campaigns, including as Public Mobilization Lead for Oxfam’s campaigning around the World Economic Forum (Davos) each year.

  • Leads multidisciplinary project teams, facilitating the cooperation and collaboration of campaigns, programs, digital, fundraising, advocacy, research and policy, and media teams.

    Key Responsibilities (Technical, Leadership, People and Resource management)

  • Connect and convene inequality influencing work from across the confederation, including leading on engagement and collaborative projects with country, regional, affiliate teams, the Advocacy Campaigns & Engagement Department, inequality programs and the Fiscal Accountability for Inequality Reduction (FAIR).

  • Leads on the development and implementation of priority public campaigns and projects within the economic inequality agenda, including as Public Mobilization Lead (leading on public campaign, overseeing digital engagement and fundraising) for Oxfam’s annual campaign spike around the World Economic Forum (Davos) annually.

  • Leads on the development of public campaign content, that is aligned with campaign priorities and values, and is framed
    by strategic communications and narratives tailored to meet agreed priorities and target audiences. This includes working across Oxfam countries, regions and affiliates, and managing relationships with external creators/freelancers/consultants on the same, ensuring our public campaigning is dynamic and fit for use around the world.

  • Leads on the development of emerging public campaign priorities, ensuring strong fundamentals like power analysis and theories of change, objectives, KPIs, partnerships and engagement from across the Oxfam confederation are embedded.

  • Support key countries in developing their influencing work on inequality, including resourcing, priorities, focus and delivery.

  • Demonstrating leadership in ensuring that inequality campaigns work is developed based on the experiences of country program, allies and partners, and ensuring they are reflective of the lived experiences of people living poverty, and that they are delivered in a non-extractive, decolonised, anti-racist feminist way.

  • Working collaboratively across the confederation at every level – country, regional, affiliate and advocacy offices - to align, where possible, influencing, income and engagement objectives in influencing and campaigning activity.

  • Building and maintaining movements with external inequality campaigning partners and movements, providing support, building relationships, and securing partnerships, including undertaking external representation.

  • Leading campaigns and projects in an anti-racist, intersectional feminist and supportive manner, in line with Oxfam’s values.

  • Showing leadership through problem-solving amongst highly diverse and complex situations, requiring comprehensive analysis of management and programme information from a wide variety of sources. Taking decisions that are highly strategic and operational with judgement based on highly complex problem-solving experience, and a full understanding of a range of internal and external factors.
