  • The primary objective of this research is to identify the various forms of discrimination experienced in the corporate world and its root causes against women taking higher leadership role opportunities, as well as to investigate more and identifying the social issues and other pertinent challenges on women aspiration for top leadership roles in corporate organisations with the aim of providing intervention solutions to addressing it.**

  • Highlight the level of gender discrimination – Employees

  • Highlight why the discrimination happens – Employers

    What can be done to discourage/ stop the discrimination?

  • How can organizations create a culture that is free from this discrimination?

    Research Questions

  • The following are questions to be answered by the research work;

  • Why young women cannot get into leadership roles?

  • What are the challenges that stop young women from attaining high positions in the corporate world?

  • Based on question 2, what 3 key areas should Poise focus on?

  • Why was sex a factor in deciding the women’s eligibility for higher positions?

  • What was the major reason why women are being denied professional promotions?

  • How was this communicated to you?

  • However, note that these questions are not exhaustive and the researcher is encouraged to further explore questions in line with the objective of the research due to their expertise and experiences on the context.

    Scope and use of the Research findings

  • This is a gender responsive research covering selected locations in greater area of Lagos and Abuja, focusing on corporate organisations within the Lagos commercial hub with a minor subsection of companies in Abuja.
  • The research organization can also give their professional advice to target other suitable locations due to their experience on the context to be included in the sample size which can be discussed and agreed upon during inception phase of the research.

  • The final output of the research will be shared with the following group of individuals corporate organisations, HR Executives, business owners and professionals, Women in business/entrepreneurs, HR Managers/Executives, Managing Directors to Senior Level Executives, Entry-level – mid-level female employees.

  • It shall also be used in the development of an advocacy plan for influencing of high-level corporate leaders to make their workplaces female friendly.

  • Consequently, the recommendations of the findings to be proffered should be with a view to inform implementation, communication and developing of suitable influencing strategies.

  • The research report should be presented in a format that should be
    easily understood by the targeted audiences.

    Methodology

  • A suitable research methodology should be adopted to carry out the research e.g. the use of Mixed methods methodology to show the number of women affected by each issue(s), factual and document all sources of information used, and it should clearly capture the research questions and finally make recommendations on the way forward.

  • Also, the use of suitable sampling method for data collection e.g. probability sampling should be properly determined and should not be below the suggested sample size covering an ideal sample size of 100 employers of labour, 1,000 employees/job seekers and a mix of either individual interviews or focus group discussions and which is.

  • The research firm must have more than 5 years experience in conducting social science researches in Lagos, including large scale quantitative social/health/economic surveys, gender assessments/analysis, as well as qualitative research; extensive knowledge and experience with statistical data analysis, and demonstrated competency in database development and analysis using statistical software

  • 5 years Prior experience in conducting surveys on development issues

  • Experience in developing, undertaking and managing quantitative household research essentials: Experience working with sensitive populations an advice

  • Strong track record of quality data collection, report writing and project management

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills in English

  • Strong record in conducting gender sensitive research

  • Demonstrated ability to network within national government partners, National Statistical Office and the academic and development community

  • Prior work in Nigeria on similar salve
