Key Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive physiotherapy assessments and develop individualized treatment and rehabilitation plans.
Provide physiotherapy interventions for musculoskeletal, neurological, orthopaedic, cardiopulmonary, paediatric, geriatric, and other rehabilitation needs.
Manage both inpatient and outpatient physiotherapy services.
Deliver post‑operative and post‑injury rehabilitation to support mobility, function, independence, and quality of life.
Conduct patient education on exercise, posture, ergonomics, injury prevention, and self‑management.
Prescribe and supervise therapeutic exercises and rehabilitation programmes.
Assess and advise on mobility aids, assistive devices, positioning, and functional independence.
Collaborate with doctors, occupational therapists, nurses, orthopaedic teams, and other healthcare providers.
Supervise, mentor, coach, and evaluate physiotherapy staff and students.
Develop and implement departmental policies, SOPs, clinical protocols, and quality improvement initiatives.
Coordinate departmental operations including duty rosters, workflow, equipment, supplies, and service delivery.
Monitor departmental performance against clinical, operational, quality, and financial targets.
Maintain accurate patient records, treatment notes, statistics, and reports.
Participate in audits, quality improvement projects, patient safety initiatives, and continuous professional development.
Promote excellent patient experience and uphold professional and ethical standards.
Support hospital programmes such as health promotion, outreach, medical camps, and rehabilitation education.
Contribute to departmental and hospital meetings and strategic planning.
Ensure compliance with Kenyan healthcare laws, regulatory requirements, hospital policies, and infection‑prevention practices.
Identify opportunities for development and expansion of physiotherapy services.
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Physiotherapy from a recognized university.
Valid registration and licence to practise from
the relevant regulatory council in Kenya.
Compliance with all applicable legal and professional requirements.
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a managerial/supervisory role within healthcare.
Demonstrated experience in departmental leadership, staff supervision, service planning, and performance management.
Strong knowledge of physiotherapy assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, documentation, and patient safety.
Specialisation or postgraduate training in physiotherapy is an added advantage.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
