Outspan Hospital Addiction Counselor Jobs in Kenya

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive substance‑use and psychosocial assessments to identify treatment needs, strengths, and risks.

  • Develop individualized treatment and recovery plans with clients and the multidisciplinary team.

  • Provide individual, group, and family counseling using evidence‑based approaches, including Motivational Interviewing and relapse‑prevention interventions.

  • Deliver psychoeducation on addiction, recovery, coping skills, healthy lifestyles, and relapse prevention.

  • Support clients throughout the recovery continuum: engagement, treatment, abstinence, relapse management, reintegration, and aftercare.

  • Monitor client progress, identify barriers, and adjust treatment interventions as needed.

  • Provide crisis intervention within scope of practice and facilitate referrals to medical, mental health, or specialized services.

  • Develop individualized discharge and aftercare plans to promote continuity of recovery.

  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records, documentation, progress reports, and outcome data.

  • Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement activities, and continuous professional development.

    Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma in Counseling Psychology from a recognized institution.

  • Evidence of training in addiction/chemical dependency counseling.

  • Minimum of three (3) years in a similar position.

  • Registered member of the Counselors and Psychologists Board (CPB).
