Job Purpose

The Program Associate is an individual contributor role, central to maintaining programmatic capacity for efficiency and agility in our operations.

The Program Associate provides advanced, specialized and/or general operational support to Open Society-Africa program teams.

The role works under limited supervision and has a proficient understanding of OSF systems, platforms and processes, as well as other program-specific operational matters including grant and contract processing, strategy documents, and other operational matters related to operationalizing programs.

This role involves extensive internal communications and collaboration with support units, as well as relationships with program partners on other operational matters.

As a Program Associate at Open Society-Africa, you will be responsible for:

  • Carrying out significant aspects of one or more administrative functions with limited supervision.

  • Collating and analyzing data and information independently, using a range of tools, methods and formats.

  • Conducting data analysis using primary data sources and selecting relevant information to enable the identification of key themes and trends.

  • Identifying and implementing improvements to processes within area of responsibility and carrying out related change management activities, under minimal supervision.

  • Interacting with colleagues to obtain or to convey information and to advance issues or projects for which responsible
    and/or to support issues or projects for which colleagues are responsible.

  • Documenting relevant information to ensure that the program records of activities remain current.

  • Guiding others in the use and benefit of knowledge management methods and tools/systems, under minimal supervision.

  • Generating a variety of materials from varied sources, using both established templates/formats as well as creating new models based on an understanding of the purpose of the materials, in accordance with general procedures and with some discretion in problem-solving.

  • Working under limited supervision, except in very novel or unusually complex circumstances.

    Education

    Relevant degree.

    General Experience

  • Minimum number of years of relevant working experience—2 years.

    Language: Preference will be given to applicants who are fluent in both English and French.
