Orchid HR Outsourcing Mechanical Technician Jobs in Kenya;Our client seeks a qualified Mechanical Technician to maintain and repair blending, bagging and material‑handling equipment at the Mombasa terminal. The role minimizes downtime and supports safe, continuous warehouse operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out scheduled and non‑scheduled preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance on blending hoppers, conveyors, bagging lines, palletizers and forklifts/wheel loaders.

  • Conduct inspections including lubrication, bearing/belt/seal replacement and general servicing.

  • Diagnose mechanical faults using vibration checks, visual/audible inspection and perform repairs promptly.

  • Inspect, troubleshoot and repair hydraulic/pneumatic systems, motors, gears, pumps and other plant equipment.

  • Undertake minor structural repairs, fitting, alignment and basic welding/fabrication tasks.

  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, spare‑parts requisitions and service schedules.

  • Prepare maintenance reports highlighting recurring issues and equipment nearing end‑of‑life.

  • Work closely with electrical technicians and operators to resolve combined faults.

  • Follow Lock‑Out/Tag‑Out (LOTO) procedures and safe isolation practices.

  • Support installation, calibration and commissioning of new/repaired equipment.

  • Assist in training junior technicians or operators on maintenance and safety practices.

  • Maintain a clean, organized workshop and ensure proper disposal of maintenance waste.

    Qualifications
    & Experience

  • Certificate or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

  • Minimum 3 years’ hands‑on experience maintaining industrial, warehouse or bagging/blending machinery.

  • Port or bulk‑commodity handling experience advantageous.

  • Working knowledge of forklift, conveyor and hopper mechanical systems.

  • Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work under pressure.

  • Willingness to be on call and work high‑season shift patterns.

    Mandatory Certifications

  • Recognized mechanical trade certificate from an accredited institution.

  • Basic occupational health & safety training (or willingness to complete HESQ induction).
