Orchid HR Outsourcing HESQ Officer (Health, Safety, Environment &Quality Jobs in Kenya;Our client seeks a qualified HESQ Officer to lead on‑site health, safety, environment and quality compliance. The role protects workers, enforces Clients’ Golden Rules and drives a zero‑incident safety culture across warehouse, blending and loading operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and improve HESQ policies, plans and procedures aligned with ISO 45001/14001.

  • Deliver and track safety inductions, hazard‑identification and emergency‑response training.

  • Conduct hazard identification, risk assessments (HIRADC) and job hazard analyses.

  • Develop safe systems of work and permit‑to‑work procedures for high‑risk tasks.

  • Conduct site inspections, safety audits and PPE compliance checks.

  • Lead incident and near‑miss reporting, investigation and root‑cause analysis.

  • Enforce Clients’ Golden Rules with zero tolerance and escalate violations.

  • Coordinate spill response, dust suppression, noise monitoring and waste‑segregation compliance.

  • Maintain HESQ documentation, registers and logs ready for audits.

  • Liaise with Clients’ internal HESQ team and represent contractor at review meetings.

  • Coordinate drug/alcohol testing, first‑aid provisioning and fire marshal coverage.

  • Champion a positive safety culture through coaching, toolbox talks and visible leadership.

    Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science
    or related field.

  • 3–5 years’ HSE experience in industrial, warehouse, port or manufacturing environment.

  • Fertilizer or bulk‑commodity handling experience strongly preferred.

  • Track record of zero unresolved safety incidents in past 24 months.

  • Strong training, auditing, investigation and stakeholder‑influencing skills.

  • Proficiency in MS Office and incident‑management tools.

    Mandatory Certifications

  • NEBOSH, IOSH or equivalent occupational health & safety qualification (mandatory).

  • Familiarity with IFA Fertilizer Safety guidelines and ISO IMS certification advantageous.

  • First Aid and Fire Marshal certification (or willingness to obtain; minimum two certified per shift).
