One Acre Fund Tupande Mechanical Maintenance Engineer / Specialist Jobs in Kenya; Tupande Soko is seeking an exceptional Mechanical Engineer to execute high‑level mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs across all factories. The role ensures reduced operational downtime and supports continuous processing operations.

Responsibilities

Hands‑on Mechanical Maintenance & Repair

  • Execute mechanical repairs on critical processing machinery.

  • Troubleshoot complex equipment failures, providing on‑the‑spot interventions.

  • Perform mechanical overhauls, component replacements, and structural alignments.

    Preventive Maintenance & Execution

  • Execute preventative maintenance schedules via CMMS.

  • Inspect, adjust, and overhaul assemblies (gearboxes, pumps, hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, bearings).

  • Track asset conditions, failure modes, and wear rates.

    Machinery Focus & Asset Care

  • Act as core mechanical intervention specialist for factory machinery.

  • Repair industrial dehydrators, macadamia processing systems, and biochar equipment.

  • Verify and list precise mechanical specifications for machines and spare parts.

    Workforce Mentorship & TPM Support

  • Mentor staff on best‑practice mechanical repair techniques.

  • Deliver TPM training for operators on mechanical checks, cleaning, and lubrication.

  • Coach operators on identifying early warning signs (vibrations, heat, noise).

    Safety, Food Safety & Regulation

  • Ensure compliance with safe systems of work (permit to work, LOTO, confined space).

  • Maintain HACCP‑required equipment records for food‑contact assets.

  • Champion zero‑harm safety culture; report hazards and close out risks.

  • Weekly check‑ins with manager.

    Qualifications

    Technical Skills

  • Degree or Higher Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

  • Active registration/membership as engineer or technical practitioner in Kenya.

  • Preventive/predictive maintenance programme design and implementation.

  • Experience with avocado oil machinery repairs preferred.

  • Experience with industrial dehydrators, macadamia processing, and biochar production preferred.

  • Ability to utilize CMMS software (SAP PM, Maximo, Limble, etc.).

  • Deep mechanical fault‑finding and root cause analysis on industrial plant equipment.

  • Proficiency in mechanical drawing.

    Knowledge

  • Food safety management systems and HACCP requirements.

  • Kenyan occupational health and safety laws (OSHA, DOSH).

  • TPM or World Class Manufacturing principles.

  • Kenyan regulatory environment for food manufacturing (KEBS standards).
