One Acre Fund Tupande Biochar Compliance Specialist Jobs in Kenya; Owns the facility’s Compliance function, combining leadership of the Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) programme with responsibility for Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) programme design and oversight. Designs and runs the data system that captures feedstock, production, quality, and end‑use data to the standard required by external verifiers. Serves as the primary interface with external verifiers, auditors, and regulators (NEMA, DOSH, carbon verifiers). Reports to the Biochar Lead.
Key Responsibilities
Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Leadership
Design and maintain HSE programme, risk registers, emergency response plans, and safety procedures.
Deliver HSE training (inductions, toolbox talks, emergency drills).
Ensure PPE distribution, safety signage, and infrastructure.
Support Production Shift Supervisors with tools and training.
Coordinate scheduled third‑party HSE testing and audits.
Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) Leadership
Design, implement, and manage MRV system covering feedstock, production, quality, and carbon removal.
Ensure accurate, consistent, traceable data collection across shifts.
Support Lab and Quality Technicians in data recording.
Develop dashboards and reporting templates.
Stay current on evolving carbon standards and MRV best practices.
Audit Readiness
Serve as primary contact with external verifiers and auditors.
Prepare and submit monthly and quarterly carbon credit reports.
Prepare facility for audits with documentation and site walkthroughs.
Own corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) flagged by auditors.
Maintain audit‑ready documentation across MRV, HSE, and compliance.
Staff Training
Train staff on MRV data recording and HSE procedures.
Coordinate with Production, Quality, and Administration on data completeness.
Farmer Engagement
Develop training materials for field staff on biochar application and data collection.
Deliver refresher training to field
teams before each season.

Qualifications
Degree in Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Data Science, Agronomy, or related field.
Minimum 3 years’ experience in HSE, compliance, audit, or environmental data management.
Strong background in HSE, OSHA (Kenya, 2007), ISO, or comparable regulatory environments.
Comfort engaging with auditors and designing audit‑facing programmes.
Familiarity with carbon standards (Isometric, Puro.earth, EBC, IBI) is a plus.
Strong data management, reporting, and analytical skills.
Experience with data platforms, spreadsheets, or monitoring software.
High attention to detail and commitment to data integrity and safety discipline.
Willingness to learn across MRV and HSE domains.
Fluent in English; East African experience an advantage.
