One Acre Fund Sustainable Agriculture Innovation Lead Jobs in Rwanda; Accelerate One Acre Fund’s transition away from imported synthetic fertilizers toward a more local and sustainable crop nutrition regime. Build on existing trials and research to identify promising innovations suitable for smallholders in Sub‑Saharan Africa, and work with diverse stakeholders to improve farmer access.

Key Responsibilities

Research and Database Development

  • Conduct wide scans of input and practice alternatives through desk research, interviews, performance data, and supplier conversations.

  • Build and maintain a database of alternatives to synthetic fertilizers.

  • Create a prioritization framework based on cost, yield impact, feasibility, supply chain stability, and quality of evidence.

    R&D Strategy and Implementation
  • Design and drive a multi‑year R&D strategy for alternatives.

  • Translate strategy into action plans covering research, government relations, supplier engagement, logistics, and supply chain.

  • Support high‑quality trial design, execution, analysis, and dissemination of results.

    Supplier Engagement
  • Work with input suppliers to refine products for smallholder farmers.

  • Suggest trials, propose new formulations, and
    address supply chain constraints.

  • Engage suppliers to expedite research, demonstrate efficacy, and achieve product registration.

    Internal Stakeholder Management
  • Lead working groups, provide updates, and maintain stakeholder alignment.

  • Liaise with Government Relations colleagues to advocate for policy changes that promote registration and farmer access.

    Career Growth and Development
  • Participate in weekly check‑ins, mentorship, and training programs.

  • Receive regular feedback and career reviews every six months.

  • Shape organizational growth and build a rewarding long‑term career.

    Requirements for Appointment

  • Academic background in Agronomy, Soil Science, Plant Nutrition, Microbiology, Agroecology, or related field.

  • Experience developing or managing farm system transition pathways.

  • Familiarity with sustainable plant nutrition advances, especially biological solutions.

  • Knowledge of agricultural research, including experimental design and analysis.

  • Strong project management skills and experience leading complex initiatives.

  • Experience navigating agricultural regulatory or product registration pathways in Sub‑Saharan Africa is a plus.
